But **** that, "the Sniper" Corrie Sanders was the best of the lot. Last 3 or 4 rounds of mayhem and it's an easy fight but those first rounds hell on earth. Would've been playing pro golf on the European (or at least Sunshine) tour now if some ****wits didn't shoot him.

Sanders was a big tough man. Sort of the Ken Norton or Ernie Shavers of his era, probably closer to the former actually.

    A proper old school gatekeeper.

Never forget him stopping Wlad and then big brother Vitali wanting to take on Sanders straight away to avenge his brother's loss.

Man went out a warrior to the way he protected his daughter as he was murdered.

I'm kinda torn on the various classes.

I've no real love for Mayweather or Ward. On the other hand I loved watching Roy Jones, James Toney and especially JMM and to a lesser extent Mosley and Cotto.

No doubt Mayweather and Ward were the most talented of the picks.

Yeah but if you ask who is the best then you go on ability, results etc rather than whose style was more pleasing on the eye.

Mayweather or Ward are never going to win any awards for being entertainers in the ring (though I loved watching Ward as you always either learned something by watching him or came away puzzled as to how he was doing something) but as good as every other name is from the list, those two, Ward in particular, had more ability, better technique, better execution of that technique, remained unbeaten for their entire careers and could do things in the ring that excellent boxers and coaches could not figure out or could figure out but still not stop it.

I also would have Ward on top of the list of all the names combined because I think he could have gone into any era and been a champion against men in the super middle and light heavy weight range. Pretty sure if I had to make an all time p4p list that Ward would be in the top ten, probably not top 5 but certainly in the top 10 for me as he is the best I have ever seen, be it live or on tape, at certain aspects of ring craft.

He was that damn talented, that good at using his talent and crucially he was elite at figuring other guys out. He took what guys like Hopkins and Jones Jr were doing (in terms of technique), and refined to even higher levels. For a guy who did not really like the sport he was the ultimate student of it.

And the bar was set really high given all the other names from 2022 and 2020. Stupidily high levels of quality and ability all over the shop.

Was there for his fight in Germany against Vitali K. He got battered that night. Was about a year or so before Vitali came over and mauled Herbie Hide.

My mate ran the arena at the time and I was ringside for that, Herbie Hide was favourite if my memory serves me rigtht
I went into dressing rooms after too, I can only imagine what small halls are like but i will never forget the sound of heavyweights punching each other from ringside.

Yeah the British media were all about how Hide was going to knock Vitali out.

Hide is too fast, too big a hitter. Klitschko would need to land a lucky shot and so on

Klitschko was only about two years a pro fighter when he took this fight and you can see how raw he is. Quick hands for a big man too. That is often forgotten about.

                  Hide vs Bowe.

Totally forgot how gutsy Hide was in this.

Looks like a middleweight in there.

Hide was a proper wrong one though.

Trouble certainly followed him like a bad stink. Where one went you found the other

Looking like Fury's talk of being retired was about as real as everyone thought it was.

A week after slagging off people who said he would come back and calling them liars, he and his uncle are giving interviews about him coming back to save boxing if he gets offered enough money.

Along with comments about how Joshua is just a steroid taking bodybuilder and Usyk is a middleweight lacking the sort of technique Fury has.

Fully expect him to be one, if not two, of the six fights Joshua signed to DAZN for.

The Middle East money is flowing in with that contract Joshua signed, so Fury is going to want a chunk of that.

Though I must admit I would be very curious to see Fury vs Usyk. Logic heavily favours Fury in that match up of course but the contrast in styles is interesting to ponder and think Usyk despite his comparative lack of size is a tougher fight for Fury than Joshua.

And as a related aside, though not aimed specifically at Fury, the lack of talk (in the boxing media not on here ) about how the Joshua deal is more obvious sports washing (there are other examples but Joshua is more high profile) is disappointing.

If I had to pick three high profile names that will imo be fully in bed (through their promoters of course) with Middle Eastern money by the end of this year then my picks are Joshua, Fury and Conor McGregor ( just watch that **** comeback as a "boxer" again).

Footy, golf and Boxing. Doing their bit to aid the sports washers.

And not related to sports washing. Yey anyway Which of these two next "Great" Amercian heavyweights will be the first to be exposed as being the next Wilder in terms of hype over substance?

Jermaine Franklin or Jared Anderson (current sparring partner of Fury)? Smart money is on it being Franklin as he is older and will be pushed sooner but the US hype machine is all over Anderson as the next "great" knock out machine from the US.

Crawford has come out and said that if the Spence fight cannot be made then he would be happy to move up to 154 and fight Charlo instead.

Not sure if the comment is meant to hurry Spence into signing, or is a sign that negotiations with Spence are close to falling apart.

Charlo he has long said he wants to fight, but Charlo never seems keen on the idea of getting into the ring with Crawford when asked about it in interviews.
