Anyone else find it a little odd that Sky mentioned something about a punter having 50k on Price to win within 4 rounds and within 30 seconds, Sexton was down and out??

It was only Sextons 18th fight, he's rated 60th in the world and has fought nobodies except Chisora whos isn't great himself but has beaten Sexton twice, in my opinion Sextons not a good fighter at all thats not disingenuous.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostSam Sexton is a decent operator at domestic level. That was Price's 11th or 12 th fight last night. Your critisisim of Sexton is disingenuous to both him and Price. Who are you wanting Price to be fighting at this stage of his career? The lad is progressing nicely but he'd be eaten alive by the top guys at heavyweight just now.
I'd like to see Price face Fury or Towers, then step up to world level. It'll never happen though, Price beat Fury in the amatuers and Fury gave up the belts rather than face him. Towers would give Price a very good fight. The problem is that the TV/Promoters/Money men etc won't allow the best fights to happen as they don't want to lose their cash cows, meaning that as boxing fans we rarely get to see the best match ups out there.

You say that Sexton has only had 18 fights. How many fights has Towers had?Originally posted by Warren View PostIt was only Sextons 18th fight, he's rated 60th in the world and has fought nobodies except Chisora whos isn't great himself but has beaten Sexton twice, in my opinion Sextons not a good fighter at all thats not disingenuous.

You say that Sexton hasn't fought anyone apart from Chisora (twice)
Without going to Boxrec or any or such website tell me one person better than Chisora that Towers has fought. In fact tell me anyone that Towers has fought

I think Froch is past his peak now. He's far too ponderous (or it might be that his style was just made to look so weak against Ward - he was amazing to be fair)
He's done well though Froch, I never rated him that highly but he has mixed it with the leading names in the division and has even held a belt. Didn't think he'd be able to do that.

You said "That was Price's 11th or 12 th fight last night" and that Sexton "is a decent operator at domestic level" I was pointing out that Sexton himself has only had 18 fights, he's lost 3 of those and in my opinion isn't a good fighter.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostYou say that Sexton has only had 18 fights. Towers has had 13/14 fights, he hasn't fought anyone at a level on par with Chisora but he's better than sexton I think. He's highly rated by a lot of people.
Just check him out, hes fighting Wallisch on 16th June on the Quigg undercard on SKY

Really like Carl Froch, a solid fighter who is always exciting to watch and loves to trade toe to toe. Seems like a really nice guy and I wish him all the best on Saturday.
Bute has a great record and from the clips I have seen he could be a very dangerous opponent for Froch. Credit to Bute also for travelling to fight in Froch's home town.
Looking forward to this one. Heart and head says Froch will do it."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

I'd love to see Froch beat Bute, but I can't see it. I always have thought of Bute as a bit of a prick, not sure why. It pisses me off that he didn't compete in the Super 6 and kept his IBF belt fighting against solid boxers rather than the best ones which were in the tournament. Don't think it'll happen though, was very impressed how he took apart Glen Johnson (obviously GJ is passed it, but he gave Froch a lot of problems) and think that he should be able to put on a similar show against Froch. Would like to see the winner have a go at Kessler, who is one of my favourites alas also on the decline. I know he fought at light heavy, but I'm sure he can still do super middle, what a hook on the weekend from him btw!
Andre Ward is a cut above and I don't really think we can read too much into anyone's performances against him because he's so slick and has a really awkward style for just about anyone to go up against.

. Not on tv though.
