Quite a sensible view on things, let's see if he sticks to it or he gets the itch in a year or two
"When you stay in the sport too long you have health problems. That's a big, big thing for me," Pavlik said. "I'm not talking about now. I'm talking about in the future. I'm talking about when I'm 55 or 60. What's gonna happen to me then? Why take any more chances, especially in that sport. It's a brutal sport and you never know what can happen.
"I won the world title, I defended my title, I was champ for three years and I made good money. Why take the chance of medical problems? That's a big part of it. I also don't think the drive is there anymore. I'm moving on to a new chapter in my life."

This sounds like it might be worth a watch:
David Haye, Amir Khan, Carl Froch and Anthony Ogogo talk about life outside the ring
Sky Sports is bringing you a unique show, as British boxing's biggest names are revealing what life is like outside the ring.
David Haye, Amir Khan, Carl Froch, Anthony Ogogo and host Johnny Nelson are five fighters who open up their hearts in Britain's Best: The Gloves Are Off on Tuesday night.
The show, on Sky Sports 1 HD from 10pm, will give you a fascinating insight into the lives of world champions, past, present and, hopefully, future.
But they won't be discussing their latest performance or their next fight. Instead, Britain's Best will be talking about their early years, their families, their fame, their lives away from boxing and the issues they have had to take on.
Haye, Khan, Froch, Ogogo and Nelson drop their defence and open up. It is personal and powerful, amazing and amusing but above all, a fascinating insight into the men we usually see in the ring.

That is a shame - enjoyed watching him fight.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostSee Kelly Pavlik has announced his retirement. Not a great, but pretty talented - he only lost against Hopkins at a heavier weight and Martinez. 31, so young to call time too.
Nice oneOriginally posted by Pablo1981 View PostThis sounds like it might be worth a watch:
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

well they had a bit of a twitter spat - but Froch seemed to think it had been completely out of proportion by the media and taken in the wrong context
Really enjoyed the show - a good insight into them all - Froch seems to be a top guy
Hard working and humble but extremely confident in himself/own ability without any arrogance coming out
One thing that annoyed me a little bit was they all wanted to be heard and listened too! which is fair enough, but it meant they all kept on butting in or over talking each other so they could get their point across.
I think the program would have benefited from being longer, or maybe a 4 part series so they could have focused on individual stories etc without what seemed like the need to rush everything in
that said tho - as massive sports fan and a reasonable boxing fan, i'd defo recommend it. Certainly to all the people who have posted in this thread, it means they have some interest in boxing, and i'd think everyone would enjoy it
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
