Yep, Eddie quickly changed the subject when that was brought up. Couldnt blame Beltran if he never wants to box in the UK again either and theres obviously zero chance Burns leaves the UK.

It's very sad, that fella should be celebrating a world title and a more secure financial future for his family and it just gets ripped away.

And they didn't even have the decency to pay him off if he pretended to have a hurt hand.

I was at the Burns fight tonight. I had Burns by 115 - 113.
General consensus in the arena tonight was Burns......just but no complaints about the draw.

If you watch the fight back I cannot see you scoring the fight 115-113 in Burns favour. There is probably an argument for a draw (not in my opinion especially when you consider the knockdown too) but there is no way Burns did enough to win the fight. Daylight robbery.

Watched those programmes and have to say in training Mayweather just looks to be on a different level to everyone. Massive favourite for me in this fight but Canelo is definitely a strong test for him.

I'm genuinely surprised by the various reports that I've read about the fight. They make it sound very one sided for Beltran and a clear robbery.

General consensus of the guys sitting around me was that Burns had just done enough to nick the fight however there were no complaints regarding the draw.

As you said it's probably worth re-watching on TV.

Apparently Burns broke his jaw early in the fight? Wasn't aware of that whilst watching it, not sure how that affected his performance or if the TV coverage was aware of it.

Ouch! Sustained early in the fight

I'm going to re-watch it myself mate. I'd love to see the scorecards because I'm still baffled at the result. Listening to Eddie Hearns this morning he admitted that he felt Beltran had won it by a couple of rounds. For me I felt Burns fought the wrong fight. He should have stayed on the outside and kept using his jab but everytime he tried to fight on the inside he was getting caught by Beltran.

I don't see a rematch happening any time soon especially as Eddie confirmed that Burns has just had surgery on his jaw and faces a lengthy spell away from boxing. He also questioned whether he would be able to fight again due to the extent of the injury. Let be honest though Burns has been poor his last two fights now.

With the knockdown giving a 10-8 round those scores make it Burns winning 7 rounds to 4 with one tied 10-10. There's no way I can make a case for that, even when trying to rationalise the decision. The judge who scored it for Burns obviously scored it 8 rounds to 4

I can imagine how it would have seemed different live though with a partisan crowd cheering every good shot that Burns threw.

As I said, incredibly brave performance by Burns to battle on with that horrific injury, but that was a bad decision.

Just re-watched the Burns fight, no way did he deserve the draw. Feel sorry for Beltran as he won the fight by a couple of rounds at least.

Hats off to Burns for continuing with a fractured jaw but when he gets to review the fight he'll know himself he was beaten and pretty convincingly as well.
