If Froch fights Andre Ward again he'll take a sustained beating.

Any chance Froch had of getting Ward over here definitely ended on Saturday, he barely leaves Cali, not a chance he'll risk a farce like that even if he would 99% win comfortably again.

I dont know, I think if (and its still a big if) he faces & beats Groves next then he will have to take a big money fight to end his career on. That will either be a deciding rubber with Kessler (depending on how his next few fights end up) or a rematch against the only other person to have beaten him, Ward.

Like you I think Froch will lose that badly should he take it on, however I bet he thinks he has a chance if he does this, changes that etc.

Personally Id take it if I were Froch & I would train for a mental 4 or 5 rounds, get Ward out of there quickly or go out on my shield.

But thats typed from the safety & security of my study.

I reckon Groves would beat Froch in a rematch.

            Nope, he's still got it.

Finally got a chance to watch the fight earlier, that was a harsh stoppage.

Do they not have a standing 8 count anymore? I mean, Groves looked staggered and if you look closely he does fall backwards as the ref is telling him it's over, but he recovered quickly enough.

            Definitely a very harsh stoppage.

I am not so sure. Obviously he has the power & speed to beat Froch, however it happens so often that this was his 1 chance to win the belt, now Froch knows a little more about him he can prepare accordingly as well. And despite Groves being on his very best form he still didnt manage to beat Froch, after all even up to the stoppage point Froch was gaining points wise as well as looking likely to stop Groves any minute.

But it would be a hell of a fight & would make a lot of money, so maybe it will happen, who knows.

I think a rematch would pan out exactly as this one did. Groves will be way ahead on points, being faster and slicker. But sooner or later Froch will catch him with a big shot and then it'll all be over. I don't think Groves can dodge everything Froch throws at him for 12 rounds, and I don't think he's got the punch resistance once Froch catches him.

That said, his performance the other night was far far better than I was expecting from him.

I'd back Froch to win the rematch. I think he underestimated Groves even if he won't admit it publically. He clearly felt he could take Groves out with fine ease. If the rematch is made I see Froch preparing extremely hard as he did leading up to his second fight with Kessler. My money would be on a Froch KO around the 8th or 9th round.

I was off today & watched the fight again, it has to be said that Jim Watts commentary is the absolute worst I have ever heard, all throughout Sky were talking Groves up ( I thought it was to sell ppv) and dismissing Froch, the commentary was diabolical, truly awful & it does have an impact on your perception of events, as does your excitement at watching a live event.

I'm no Froch fanboy, let's make that clear, but upon watching the fight today, minus the abysmal commentary & excitement, a few things jumped out at me. Number 1 of which was that Froch wasn't as bad as I remembered.

Groves started well, knocked Froch down & generally held the centre of the ring, but r1 & r6 aside he didn't have Froch in trouble, in fact Froch landed way more than I had remembered.

That said I still had Groves 3 points to the good going into the 9th & despite taking a minutes worth of heavy shots there was no way that should have been stopped at the point it was. Given there was a minute or so left I still think Froch would have ended it, or at least got a knockdown & a 10-8 round, so heading into the last 3 rounds it would have been a tricky task for Groves to have won.

Groves was fantastic though & way better than I had ever thought possible.

Froch is a tough *******, that knockdown would have ended the vast majority of super middleweight fights and he was seemingly fine not a minute after!

It was a great fight with a badly stopped ending but it seemed that Froch finally had the beating of groves anyway.

Groves is sounding a little whining now, he was in deep trouble and got beat. Hope he gets his rematch but he should concentrate on that.

Ref stepped in early no doubt but turning your back on a fighter slumped down is not a good thing to see in the ring.

I tipped Froch TKO in 9 on Saturday but having watched seen what happened I don't believe he'll beat him next time. I think this is the tipping point for Froch now, at 36, and Groves' style is exactly what Froch doesn't want to be facing. Groves is young and improving, Froch - IMO - is now on the downgrade. I see another war, another thrilling fight (my heart was pounding), and a Groves stoppage late on.
