Think it was Shaggy the other week who said he'd been revisiting some classic fights during the lockdown.

Been doing the same. Not watched this one since i originally saw it. Fantastic performance by an 'away' fighter.

Netflix documentary 'Losers' on Michael Bentt was pretty good.

Saw this some time ago and agree, well put together. What an interesting guy.

On a related note, I also saw the ESPN 30 for 30 on Tommy Morrison which spends some time focusing on that fight. Pretty decent too, although so tragic how the guy was so self destructive each time he seemed to be getting his life back on track. The HIV denial stuff was absurd.

The world heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have agreed to a two-fight deal, according to the promoter Eddie Hearn.

Jesus Christ, summarises everything that is wrong with the world. I really like Roy Jones and it's a shame that he didn't have consistently live opponents during his reign to give himself a proper legacy, but what the ****, really. If he's still alive, he'll be having exhibitions in 20 years time FFS.

IF he'd retired after he beat Ruiz for the Heavyweight title he'd be in the discussion for greatest fighter ever. His legacy is golden.

Sadly he's fought on for 15+ years too long.

Without turning this into the Tyson debate all over again, how many really top fighters in their primes did he beat? Hopkins and Toney were great wins, but his light heavy reign in his prime which he is best known for is largely against good, not great fighters. Sparked by just that; good, not great opponents Tarver and Johnson consecutively. Obviously there are good names on his record unlike some other fighters but didn't get to really define his career.

When historians like Sugar speak about them, he often is recalled unfavourably in comparison to other top fighters in the division like Archie Moore and Bob Foster for example. Regardless I'm a huge fan and the best at his weight in his prime.

Tarver and Johnson were post Ruiz. My point was that if he had called it quits when he beat Ruiz he'd be in the conversation as the greatest boxer ever.

I still think that regardless of what happened to Jones post Ruiz his legacy is golden. From Middleweight to Heavyweight champion is a once a century occurrence. Even in the modern age of alphabetti spaghetti titles the achievement isn't diminished.

I think we're in agreement that the Toney, Hopkins and Ruiz fights are his career defining fights.

Aside from those there's quite a few decent names on his record as well. Mike McCallum, Vinny Paz and Griffen weren't too shoddy.

Are we to suggest that Joe Calzaghe's legacy is in doubt is diminished because he fought tomato can's for a good portion of his career and only moved up in weight in his last few fights?
