It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

        C'est incroyable.

        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

And your point is he's not British?

Finding myself vaguely interested in this Wiggins shizzle. Can someone answer some questions please? For a no0b?

Got absolutely no idea about anything to do with cycling.

Firstly....Wiggins won "with every rider selfless in their support of their leader" - WTF? Cavendish - "world champion" - was "fetching him drinks"? WTF?

So it's a team sport like F1? What's all this stuff I'm hearing about Froome? Was he a pacemaker or something? How the **** does it all work?

Also....Cavendish's win was apparently his 23rd Tour stage win in his career - but he's never won it? He's world champion but came 142nd in the Tour? Yet won loads of stages? The ****?

Froome was born in South Africa too.

Okay, but it repeatedly talks about riders helping each other but it doesn't say how. They "work as units" -WTF? I thought it was a race? What do the supporting team members do to help the no.1 rider (right terminology? )? Block other riders? Bump them off their saddles?

And how come world champion Cavendish is having to support Wiggins and "fetch drinks for him"?

And why did he come 142nd when he won a few stages? How come the world champion did so badly? 142nd is ****. How come he's won so many stages overall and never won it?

They protect their main asset, prevent them from getting boxed in, provide cover against the wind and rain, lessen the wear on him by taking turns infront of him giving him less wind resistance (until you ride a bike properly, you just can't imagine what a difference this makes), they collect water and energy bars etc for him to allow him to keep his pace up, motivate him at tought times, all sorts.

Cycling is a complex sport. The overall winner of the tour (maillot jaune) is the one who runs the fastest when you add the overall time. You can win the tour without winning a single race, Miguel Indurain was testament to that and he won the tour 5 times.
                              Are we winning?

Thanks, that's helpful and fairly interesting.

I haven't ridden a bike since my Dawes handmade mountain bike went all rusty in the shed

Any idea about the Cavendish riddle?

Where was Chris Hoy? I thought he was meant to be **** hot
