So fatigue may have played a part, due to the five setter Murray played against Federer? Can we assume then that if Federer had not had to play a five setter himself the match before he faced Murray, we would probably have been looking at a fed v djok final?

Or does Federer, at 32 (?) not feel fatigue? I only ask as earlier in this thread, because Murray beat Federer, it was suddenly Murray who was a world number 2, in all but the rankings, which to me seemed a bit harsh on Federer.

      Fair point.

It's ridiculous that Djokovic had an extra day to recover from his semi-final, not that he needed it given how easy it was for him. The Australian Open really needs to sort that out, it makes it very unbalanced.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I think there are a lot of fair points here, and there seems to finally be an acceptance of the brilliance of Murrays game.

He was attempting to do something no player in the open era has done (Federer, Agassi, Sampras, Djokovic, Nadal, Becker etc.) and that's follow up a first slam straight away with a second. That shows the magnitude of the task, he didn't do it but he played well. At the start of the second set he had Djokovic worried and was hitting some huge winners. A defeat, but lots of signs of encouragement.

I would say his goal for this season should be to win his second Slam, and show an improvement on Clay (he has the game to do well on clay). His best chances of the second Slam - Wimbledon, where he was runner up, and the US where he is champion. Djokovic is quite rightly lauded as world number 1, but with 3 Slam finals in a row, 1 win and an Olympic gold, and a couple of massive wins over Federer Murrays last 12 months haven't been too shabby either.

Nadals return could be interesting also, hopefully he ends up in Djokovic's half of the draw, evening up the field a bit if he gets back to his best.

I think he'll win Wimbledon this year.

Nadal wins his first tournamenet since coming back, beats Nalbandian 6-2. 6-3. Let's hope he gets back to top form and we see him, Murray, Djok and Federer playing at the top level together for a few more years.

You could be right, we'll see though he's looked after himself well.

After that sarcastic comment he has taken control and is cruising the second set.

                      Come on Muzza!

Novak v Tsonga will be a good match too. Winner will face Muzza or Del Potro.
