Oh and whilst I'm thinking about Brown, was there ever a bigger prima donna than Sexton?

I think he has some ability but is he streets ahead of Farrell or Russell or Biggar or even Ford? I don't see it personally. He's solid kicking the corners and when aiming at goal and he makes his tackles but then we all have to know he's made his tackle or been tackled because there's a time out whilst super Johnny grimaces and limps and is assessed then carries on because in spite of everything Johnny's one tough dude.

Honestly I should imagine it pisses of the Irish team so **** knows what it would do to the morale of the players from the other nations having to tolerate the Cool Johnny show.

Funnily enough other 10's get targeted - little George Ford for one but somehow they manage to soldier on without an on pitch medi vac drama every 10 minutes.

Also whilst I think his actual rugby is solid it's some way short of spectacular - as I said above when talking about Hogg, we need a bit more than Johnny's favourite loop around move if we're going to push the AB's. I'm not a huge fan of Ford (because he struggles unless his team have significant ascendancy up front it seems to me),but at least he takes the ball to the line, same with Russell whilst Farrell and Biggar are just damn solid.

Sorry Irish Nev, I'm sure Sexton is a hero in your neck of the woods but to the rest of us he's one hefty ****.

I'm Munster through and through so ROG and POC are the heroes around here. Sexton can be a dick, no doubt but he is the best 10 available so for me he starts - added to that Murray is arguably the best 9 in the world so as you said combinations matter so the axis of 9 and 10 is v important.

I agree on Hogg, yes, there may be better defensive Fullbacks (though he made 2 incredible try saving tackles on Sat) but is there a better finisher and creator in the Northern Hemisphere? He is fast, has lightening hands, joins the line well, and knows how to finish. He is a front foot player - exactly what you nee to beat the AB's.

10 is an interesting one. Sexton gets it probably die to his all round game, I think if he could add some of Russells creativity then he'd offer more. The flip being Russell could do with some of Sextons decision making. For Russell the tour may come too early (Id take him though) but he grew massively in stature through the 6 nations, picking up some of the responsibility in directing play when Laidlaw got injured.

If Halfpenny goes, then I despair. A lot of Gatlands intent will be shown to us in his squad selection.

Not that he was ever realistically going, but you can rule Huw Jones out of Lions contention.

          Out for 5 months.

Stuart Hogg voted RBS 6 nations player of the Tournament for the second year in a row.

Gatlands Welsh bias is going to be hard to stomach.

I'd give the test captaincy to Rory Best. He recently captained the Irish to a win against the AB's.

I actually thought Eddie Jones Idea of having four touring captains one from each nation was a good idea.

We are going to have **** all representation, I can see it already.

Got to give it to an essential player and someone the ABs will respect - Alun Wyn Jones or J Sexton for me

Launchbury and Joseph likely to miss out according to the Beeb.

Launchbury I get (sort of) - there are a lot of decent locks to choose from even though he had an excellent 6N. But Joseph ????

The centre cupboard isn't really particularly well stocked, at least not with attacking threat. So it can only mean it's going to be classic smash it up the middle Warren ball. Oh goody, I bet the AB's are ****ting their pants at the complex defensive patterns that will be needed to repel that unbelievably tricky bloke running straight at them tactic.

Even Jamie Roberts hasn't been ruled out. But I think he is taking Ben Te'o.

I've seen some predicted squads that only have one Scot (Hogg)... Yet some Welshmen that have been mediocre are getting pushed forwards.

                          I'm fearing the worst.

Don't think that's necessarily the case. There will be far fewer Welsh players in the squad than last time. Beyond the outstanding Hogg, I don't think any Scottish player has a compelling case to be a first pick. WP Nel if he wasn't injured would have to be on the plane, but the other leading Scottish players are up against better options. Just take a look at how many quality locks will miss out on this tour.

Not surprised if Launchbury misses out exactly because there are so many excellent choices in that position. Joseph's omission though disappointing if it is a sign of strategy to come.

Given we comfortably beat both Wales and Ireland and Glasgow made the last 8 of the Champions Cuo destroying Leicester and Racing 92 home and away (Finn Russell out playing Dan Carter home and away) it would be fair to say I disagree with that squad.
