Normally it's nailed on that Poitre and (the other french dude) Garces will make one or two very odd calls during the course of a game but from what I saw - about 2/3 of the match - he got most things right today.

Did you see the Irish game - hard to be neutral when your team is playing but I thought Angus Gardner had a shocker. Very harsh on us in the breakdown and on one scrum in particular

Both a brilliant and a terrifying result for us. If we didn’t already know zero complacency allowed.

I was looking forward to it already, but even more now.

However, I was hoping for a really open game and I'm a bit doubtful Scotland are going to want to play like that having seen what happened to Ireland.

It's tricky though - do they change to a totally alien game plan - because there's probably quite a lot of danger in trying to do that.

Ye were a little unlucky 4 years ago, today Japan should have beat us by more

Having watched England get loads of opportunities (especially v Tonga) and waste them by constantly dropping the ball or stuttering because there was confusion about where the ball was going and who the runner etc would be, the thing that struck me most about Japan was the incredible handling and phase continuity.

Even the forwards were catching the ball off their laces.

And if you have people constantly running on to the ball and who know where the supporting players are coming from it makes the game very simple.
