What a try!!"When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Nicey

I doubt anyone predicted a 20 point gap! That is a thrashing.Originally posted by topscorer View PostNothing better than a bit of impartial commentary to get up to speed lol
Really impressive from SA. And commiserations to England, who put in one of the all time great performances, just a week too early.Modifying post.

Fair play to SA. They were excellent and even managed to get over the try line at their third WCF attempt
I didn't see them reaching the final after being easily beaten by NZ in the group match - maybe not even getting past the Quarters. Ironically it was a bit like England's WC in 2007 where they started off poorly but made the final.
England seemed to lack a bit of intensity. I'm not sure if that was a hangover from the Semi or because they were so desperate to play the game the way they wanted it played they forgot about the basics.
In fact the thing I found most frustrating was the lack of clear thought. There were a couple of occasions where they had the opportunities they wanted but completely overlooked them. One was a 5 on 3 in the first half but Ford opted to kick the ball away and the other was during the long penalty advantage in the 1st half when there was an easy score if Young's passed left but inexplicably he went right.
That (plus a con') would have put England ahead and entirely changed the complexion of the game.

South Africa were as tactically perfect as England were last week.
That initial scrum dominance was huge.
Agree on England suffering by not taking points when SA were under pressure was huge, but the defensive shift from the boks at that point was so impressive. The missed pen to get to within 3 second half also felt huge. As the game opened up it felt like SA were the team to benefit which was not as predicted. Ultimately England didn’t show up.
The first try was majestic and fitting of any final.
At least England were beaten fair and square no controversy like the Cueto try.
Also, though the list to the All Blacks in their first game SA played really well for the majority of it.
Also great to not see the ABs win again..!Last edited by Buzzo; 02-11-19, 01:35 PM.Modifying post.

I wondered how England would approach this game and to be honest I didn’t think they would fail so badly in the physicality stakes. Once they started to force the game they were done.....some of the handling errors were very uncharacteristic.
