I was at Murrayfield yesterday, it was a brilliant game.

We should have won. Even after a horrific start, we came back into tit and basically bossed it from 10 - 65. As good as we have played in the last 2 years. We left maybe 2-3 trys out there, one with Graham going soooo close in the corner. We were turned over 2 or 3 times on the line.

We had a 9 point lead going into the final 20, but then the previous efforts stared to show. The game pretty much turned on a deliberate knock on from Dempsey. Down to 14 with 15 to go. Had we seen that moment out, who knows.

    Where does this leave us?

Well, with Finn Russell in the team with a renewed sense of optimism, he is a once in a generations player. The best I have seen of Scotland has been with him running the game at 10. Will he have bad games? Yes. Will it be acceptable given the good games. Yes!!! The crowd left Townsend under no illusions what he means to us as a player. It is so ****ing Scottish to have the head coach not get on with our best player... If Russell had been in camp for longer you can only assume it would have helped.

Over all though a good step in the roight direction after a **** year.

Where does it leave us? Well, who knows. We have the 6Ns where on our day we are a match for anyone. We have a reasonable pool of players to call on.

The WC. Just a ****ing nightmare. I just do not see a scenario where we can beat either of Ireland or South Africa. And with that in mind I just want to see more of what I saw yesterday. If we are to play in these games then these stronger nations have to earn their victories.

I think Townsend will go after the World Cup, and I think his time is pretty much up.

There was a very emotional moment at the start with Doddie Weir. Very sad to see his recent deterioration.

Wales lost at Home to Georgia….. wow, watch them do a grand slam in the 6 Nations now

Another win for Ireland - probably not deserved but we are finding ways to win. Surprised Australia lost vs Italy, they looked really good and tough.

12 wins in a row at home + beating SA, NZ and Aus in a calendar year…… I’ll take it

International Rugby is quite fascinating right now. Seems like there are a wide field of teams who have the potential to beat each other.

At Murrayfield as per today - been an odd autumn - poor start. Then Finn brought in and changed everything. He runs the team on the pitch.

We also met Finn post match today!

He finally seems to be getting the adoration he deserves at Murrayfield. Absolutely bonkers games vs the Pumas. Russell was behind all that was good. Had a hand in every try.

The fact that Townsend initially dropped him for this tour has to go down as one of the greatest selection mistakes in the history of sport. We might not beat everyone, but with Finn, at least we have a chance.

Nice one Buzzo - happy for you and your son to meet him. I’ve seen the “children” thread and like the rest have said you are a great Dad! Been up to my eyes so will reply properly there in time

I'm abroad well away from the rugby sadly. Looks like it was an interesting weekend though from what I've read online.

Not a fan of rugby at all but Kevin Sinfield is perhaps the most inspirational man of these times. Massive respect to him

An absolute Pro and constantly gets better……I didn’t think he’d make it when he first broke through and now World player of the year - wow

He’s a phenomenal player. Quite surprising it wasn’t a Frenchman in a year they went unbeaten internationally.

Whilst he’s not wrong I’m not sure the likes of Eddie Jones do us any favours in the dislike stakes!

He has plenty of form criticising referees and has got what he deserves. Actually with his history he probably should have got more.

Don't really see the problem. He's taking it a little far, sure but if he feels it's taking pressure away from players and diverting it to refs (which many South Africans feel haven't traditionally given us a fair game). Like he says, if you don't like it don't read it. I've stopped looking myself, it's a bit tiresome. World Rugby are proving him right because they're taking away his freedom of speech which fulfils his narrative. The rest of the English speaking world hates us anyway (weirdly, for no real reason - sporting and non-sporting), so it's not like it's damaging our reputation that much either way.
