Weird how sports people manage to become so important in peoples lives, for all sorts of reasons i suppose.

On another note I had no idea that Ferrari had a design operation based in Guildford at one point.
I presume it was when John Barnard was chief designer. He designs furniture now I think.

Only up to 2012 this. He really is the last of the late breakers out there, and an out and out racer, like him or not, the bloke can drive an F1 car.

Why don't you start a thread on it if it concerns you so much, you "****ing cunt faced cunt"? This is the F1 thread!

Like I said, the money he generates in the UK alone, away from his income, more than covers any amount the treasury might be missing out on.
I love it when someone makes a personal insult then gets offended at a personal insult in reply

I've watched as few races though, its by far one of the most tedious motorsport evens in existence.

Ok - I read your original post in this thread as being someone who was trying to get a rise out of everyone, so I bit.

I wasn't offended in the slightest, I thought it was quite funny tbh.

...and you were sour faced enough to come back and make a tax exile post about a sport that you have no interest in right when the subject of your post had just won a world title. You could have made that point at any point since 2007, when he originally moved over to Switzerland. Its just a sour point made with no real understanding of how the sport works.

It was definitely a superior insult. If my wife ever heard me say that out loud though she'd give me a slap and call me potty mouth.

He was on the news, I saw the thread being updated and posted, simply as that. Its nothing to do with how the sport works, it all to do with greed, the same reasons everyone else does it IMO.

See, I don't begrudge him that when I take his family background into consideration. His dad moved over from Grenada, worked primarily on the railways and took 2 more jobs to pay for him to race until he managed to push him on to getting noticed by McLaren. It was pure hard work and determination from his Dad that got him where he is today, a lifetime of contribution against the odds.

Lewis's success is also contributing to a thriving industry in its own right, that brings in millions to the british economy every year. 43,000 employees in F1 in Britain. If there were no talented drivers to enthuse an industry, that could easily be lost opportunity financially, as well as people out of jobs.

I don't want to derail the thread as its F1 and maybe I should've posted it elsewhere, but as I said I'd just watched him on the news and saw the thread highlighted.

Each and every sportsman has a tale to tell, they've all worked hard and made sacrifices to become the best, most are rewarded far less than Lewis, but then it has no relevance to the tax issue.

Just because Lewis works for an industry that is simply profitable and creates jobs here should not mean he gets a free ride in a job with which he is already handsomely rewarded. Motorsport has thrived in the UK, more than almost any country in the world with or without Lewis Hamilton. He has no direct effect on the success of F1, it will succeed here without him.

He is of course free to make the choice to move away, as many have done before him, but it sticks in my throat to see him flying the Union Jack when he contributes nothing personally. The industry does yes, but it would do just as much without him.

You then had Prince William calling him and congratulating him on behalf of the UK. Again, the UK where he pays no tax. I pay more per year into Williams bloody family than Lewis does, where's my bloody phone call you posh ****

Microsoft possibly and Martini putting more money in.

Oh I forgot to say well done to lewis. Very deserved. Do both him and Alonso deserve a third title?

                              Yes. If they win it.

They both have the talent to win a third and possibly more.

That would put them with more than senna and possibly prost.
