    Pro Road Racing 2013

A thread about this season's professional road cycling.

I'd just like to ask that we keep this thread just about the racing, please. By all means add news or comments about any new doping cases if and when they arise but if it's the historical stuff then let's chuck it in the Lance thread.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Great ride from Porte today. It was a really impressive attack. Barring bad luck he should win Paris-Nice from here.

I hope the UK leg of Tour de France is a resounding success!

I'm going to make a real effort to watch some Classics riding this season.

Apparently crit riding has resumed in Cairns so I'll have to join up and see if I'm good enough for D grade. Might take a while though!

          Wrong thread. That's next year.

Tirreno-Adriatico showed weaknesses in Froome - his experience of leading and descending. It was also surprising how poor Contador was in the time trial, losing 15 seconds to Froome in just 9.2km.

Nibali looked very strong. I don't know what the Giro course is like but clearly Wiggins isn't going to have it easy.

The season is warming up nicely.

I'm looking forward to Goss vs Sagan in the Classics.

Yep, Goss seems to do well in the long races and Sagan is incredible. Sunday should be good.

Cancellara, Boonen and Gilbert all look in decent form too for the cobbled and Ardennes classics. Maybe even someone like Cunego can spring a surprise, he's in good form.

Goss is back to his HTC fitness and weight apparently.

About time too. He's been poor for ages until the last two or three weeks.

I thought the whole race was on Eurosport today but it turns out coverage doesn't start until 1.30.

The break of six have a whopping lead of 10:55 after 30km.

Tweet from Koen de Kort, during the stint in the team cars as a result of snow forcing rerouting to avoid the Turchino climb/descent.

It's snowing so much this could be biathlon. If so, can I be shot first?

Tour of Catalunya has been exciting racing so far. Wiggins attacks! Twice!
