Ricky Hatton:- Mayweather's like Cheryl Crow.

Ricky Hatton remains hopeful of fighting American four-weight champion Floyd Mayweather.
Hatton will attempt to regain his IBF light welterweight crown against Juan Orango on 13 January in the States but could then line up Mayweather.

"It's a fight I would definitely want," Hatton, 28, told BBC Radio Five Live.

"I'm not scared to say he's the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He has won world titles at different weights. Hopefully we can get it on."

Mayweather's trainer, his uncle Roger Mayweather, told BBC Sport earlier in the year that the fighter was interested in fighting Hatton, although not on his home soil in Manchester.

Hatton has now resolved that issue by securing a deal with TV network HBO to fight in the United States and he will take on Orango in either Las Vegas or Atlantic City next January.

Floyd came in to the ring dressed as Russell Crowe and he ended up fighting like Sheryl Crow

However, this month Mayweather accused Hatton of demanding too much money and Hatton in turn insists that is not the case.

"He says that I've priced myself out of a fight but I wasn't even aware that I've asked for a price because my next two fights are done deals," Hatton told Sportsweek.

The Manchester fighter also suggested Mayweather, who defeated Carlos Baldomir last week to claim the WBC welterweight title, would have to raise his game if the two were to arrange a high-profile meeting in the ring.

"The way Floyd is performing, I don't think he is in a position to be demanding money," said Hatton. "His last two fights have sent me to sleep.

"He is a wonderful talent but his last fight was very boring. They carried him to the ring dressed as Russell Crowe and he ended up fighting like Sheryl Crow."
Mayweather, who remains unbeaten in 37 contests, said he intended to quit after one more fight

It's Sheryl Crow, but there's no shame in getting it wrong.

That's what he said. Sure, it's spelled differently but it's pronounced the same.

              Yeah nice one Ricky
Mayweather retiring after one more fight? whats all that about, there are guys almost 10 years older than him still fighting in that division. He really wants to retire undefeated, thats for sure. ricky should be alright at light welter, he really dominates there. Id still be worried about him fighting Mayweather though, he had real problems in his last outing against Luis Collazo
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

              * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I think Mayweather is trying to lure Oscar De La Hoya in to the ring hence the talk of retirement.

It would be a huge fight that's for sure. I think that De La Hoya would piss all over mayweather though. He's natural at Light-Middlewight where as Mayweather struggled to beef up to 147.

They'll probably get that one done, but then I bet Mayweather finds a way to dodge Ricky. Shame, cos I'd love to see the Hitman plant a few on that smug 'pretty' face of his

Would be a very interesting fight methinks. Mayweather has staggering natural ability, but then again, it is not as though Oscar is short in that department either, just has more miles on the clock. De La Hoya could motivate himself easily for that fight, would be huge kudos for the winner though, regardless of which one won.

If you ask me, Hatton is an easier fight than De La Hoya. Not sure why Mayweather would rather fight de La Hoya.

I'd probably agree...but look at Mayweather's personality & all that 'pretty boy' bollocks. He's all about image, and in those terms (and financially too) the De La Hoya fight is much bigger. Plus Ricky is a bit more of an unknown quantity to him, as well as having undoubted heart, and Yank fighters are always scared of that.

Yeah, Mayweather should be given some credit for chasing the harder fight. It is not often that we get champions who want to fight the best they can be put against.
