I've gone to every North West based Open in recent memory. I might give the next one a miss though as it's so overpriced and overcrowded nowadays

Saw the Senior Open is at Birkdale soon, which is just down the road from me. But it's £31 to get in. £31 to watch the Seniors. **** off.

we had the ladies open in hoylake last year, i live literally 100 yards from the course and i managed to get a couple free tickets so me and a few mates went - good day, had a few drinks oh and some fit women golfers on show.

the last open in hoylake...all my life i've been a golfer, i've been the open at birkdale, lytham and st andrews....i've played at Hoylake hundreds of times, and the year it came here....the first time in 40 years!...my ex bird booked a holiday to Egypt - i did manage to go the first practice day and watched Faldo and a had a day having a few drinks in some of the bars

get back, my mates, even none golfer mates, even too this day, talk about the week the open came to hoylake! - apparently it was ****ing amazing atmosphere

Yeah, it was indeed 2006! Shocked myself when I realised earlier it was that long ago.

Atmopshere around the final green was brilliant at the end.

Was Hoylake when Woods holed his second shot on a par 5? If so I was following him at the time and I went absolutely ballistic

Just checked and it was Hoylake, but it was his second shot on a par 4, not a par 5. Still it must have been from about 200 yards. It was insane.

Some random bloke got a Hole In One on the Sunday - spent the first part of the day sat on the bank at a Par 3 and got to see it. People were going mental.

Never forget the sheer number of people tracking Woods, unreal! Sergio blew it that year when he chose a Canary outfit on the Sunday.
