                                    Yeah poor old Davey, I must admit I do find it hard to feel sorry for him. Personally I think the problem is that Broad has done a deal with the devil down at the crossroads because he sure owns Dave.

                                        So a disappointing if predictable outcome to the fate of the urn. Hopefully we can at least square the series at the Oval although I'm doubtful unless Smith contracts Dengue fever in the meantime.

                                        Jimmy missing was a biggie, but equally I can't help thinking England might be a bit better if the players actually stepped onto the pitch for a four day game every now and then. The mindset needed for acquiring runs in the long form just isn't there unless you're Jack Leach, and funnily enough out of that group he and Overton have probably played the most county cricket this season.

                                                I don't think cramming 5 tests into 6 week period straight after the world cup helped either side. Schedule is ridiculous.
