Well they'll want to win the series rather than draw it. Don't think they've done that here since 2001.

That's a pretty abysmal tail with not really anything after Butler, but that's the side I'd go with in the winter. We've got to get rid of Denly and Bairstow, while Curran isn't good enough (yet) to bat in the top 6. Might as well give some new faces a go. Sibley, Crawly and Pope seemed to be talked about as the next 'cabs off the rank' so let them have a run in the side.

      Burns
      Sibley
      Crawley
      Root
      Stokes
      Pope
      Butler (c) (wk)
      Archer
      Broad
      Leach
      Anderson

At 37 England might have to accept that Anderson’s days are numbered there were some rumours of Broad retiring also at 33.

Woaks instead of Anderson when he retires and whoever is on form and fit when Broad goes.

It will be interesting to see who steps up when those two retire as they have carried the England attack superbly for years. Big bowling boots to fill.

Archer has bags of potential. Wonder if he has the consistency?

If he avoids injuries he can do whatever he wants. He has a natural action so if his workload is managed I don't think he should suffer major recurring injuries. He's showed depth that he is multifaceted and can adapt to the conditions instead of just steaming in and bowling quick on every surface. There is no reason he shouldn't join Cummins, Rabada and the other elite fast bowlers on the international scene. As you say though, needs to prove consistency, but that shouldn't be a problem. Seriously good cricketer.

On a side note, can't believe Broad is only 33, thought he was 2 years older considering how long he's been on the circuit.

Marnus gone too. Archer looking menacing and Australia in a real spot of bother.

Steve Smith to the rescue again?

How badly do England need to get him out early?

Same story every time. Get rid of the two **** openers then these two will bat all day.

Warner is the first opener in Test history to get 8 single figure scores in a series

                          Correction, it was Harris.

There are hardly any decent specialist opening batsmen left in test cricket. Huge problem area for almost every country. Harris looks ****ing ****, but there isn't anyone obvious to replace him with.

That's hilarious. Couldn't have happened to a better person.

                            It does seem scripted.

It’s like waiting for the England collapse to happen. Every. Innings.

Got to admire Warner. He's been utterly selfless this series. Gets himself out as quickly as possible in order to allow Smith to work his magic.

                              True team player.
