I walk about 6 miles a week. Does that count?
    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

      Pablo
      Rich + 7 miles
      Norbs + 12 miles

      Bring it on gents!
      Sounds like a good challenge

I'm struggling at the moment with pain on the inside of my shins and hobbling like an idiot. The only time the pain eases is when running

My current Micoach account says I've completed 157.6m in total so we could start from today and lop that off the total

Resolved to get my running shoes on again this week. Probably start again on Saturday.

I enjoyed it before, the buzz you get afterwards is brilliant. But as soon as I hit a hurdle before I gave up.

See how it goes this time.
        *Except Michael, who died.

Maybe try running on the flat this time, the hurdles can be exhausting.

          Oh and Norbs, you're on!

I gave up running yonks ago, if not I would be in. My main training is on Eliptical training machines and rowing

Osteo appointment this afternoon - hopefully will sort it. Had one of the physios give it a quick run over post-squats at the gym yesterday- reckons it's a nasty trigger point not a pull, but we will see.

Tis back day today, so no legs involved.

              My pleasure.

Trigger points are nasty things. I have one in my of my shoulders which sometimes acts up, causing mayhem in the neck shoulders area

You're minted aren't you? Have you got a home gym?

I'm a cheapskate so as running is free it's definitely my bag baby!

Are you asking me or telling me?

I did have both machines at home. I sold them as it is way way too boring to train alone

I now use a local gym which is 5 mins walk from my house. Its a great place fully loaded with equipment and more importantly.........Top top totty

Is it normal to skip from one ache to the next? First it was sole pain and I got fitted for shoes and now it's shin pain. In between I got well achy calf muscles. Now the soles and calves give no jip at all but I get a slight lower back pain after a couple of miles. It's not unbearable and is more ache than strain but it's quite sore

Any ideas? It seems that there's always an obstacle to running

                      We're just getting old Norbs!

I've suffered terrible ongoing tendinitis but after finding the right running shoes I'd say I've been free of pain for a long time now. Obviously I still get the odd ache and muscle fatigue, but never anything serious.

Some of the others I run with though have constant niggles with their knees or ankles etc. I think all that impact just gradually wears our aging bodies down

Might be worth getting your running stride checked again though? It could be that your running style has altered over time and now the fitted shoes you have aren't working correctly. Also do you do a decent warm up and warm down?

I stopped doing a warm up but have resigned myself to start again. Ice and ibuprofen after helps too doesn't it?

                        Comment

Ice baths are what you need apparently. Aside from being a pain to do though (how do you get that much ice?) they sound painful! I just tend to stretch after and have a shower. Most of my running these days is done on my lunch hour anyway, so it's all a bit rushed.

The one thing I have learned during my amateurish foray into running though is to listen to your body. If you feel tired, rest. If your ankle is sore, rest. The big mistake I made was running day after day while my achilles gradually worsened. If I'd took a few days off I think it would have healed. Instead I did permanent damage. I'll never make that mistake again.

Ouch. With permanent damage you don't have the chance to make a mistake again

I'll not be winning any prizes by resting

Damn it, my ulterior motives weren't very well hidden were they?

                              Rest you *******, rest!

As for my ankles, they're now disgustingly deformed. Basically every time my achilles has gone it tears away from the bone. It hurts! To heal the bone grows a little bit more each time to reattach to the tendon. Over time this has left me with big lumps at the back of each heel. I now have grotesque circus freak feet

Found this pic which is similar to the lump I've got at the back of each heel:

You're basically racing an invalid. Should be a walkover for you

I wish. One of them is my missus and several of them are her mates.
