I've got a pair of Innov8 255's (9mm heel dropOriginally posted by Dan View PostI'm tending to agree with you. The difference a forefoot strike can make is outstanding, for pure shock absorbtion*/dispersion. (*how the **** do you spell that?). It's very difficult to adjust, conscious of your foot strike every stride and what not, but if you can do it it's so much better.
Vibram FiveFingers Interviews | Professor Daniel Lieberman Part 1: heel strike vs. forefoot strike - YouTube
I wear Puma Faas, they encourage the foot to land at a flatter angle than the norm with running shoes, pain in the calf can be a right cuntpunt for the first few runs but once it's past it they're lush to run in. Got a neutral pair with some custom insoles at the moment but I've just taken delivery of a pair of structured to the shop today that I'll get next week
Check em out brah, 500/550 is the neutral pair, 800 is structured.
I've also got a pair of Asics Volts, 10mm heel drop so fairly minimalist, but they **** my calves up when running so I'm waiting til I have the weight down a bit further before venturing to run in them again.
We have a deal with asics every year, for 45 euro I can get a pair of 1170s and running top/shorts/socks. The 1170s retail at 100e, and I can trade them against any other pair we stock. I've ordered two packs, gonna get my faas 800s for free and also ordered a ****ing lush pair of 2170s
They'll end up costing me 15 quid extra. 105 for 2 pairs of shoes, 2 tees, 2 shorts and socks

As soon as the weight is down enough and I'm at decent fitness levels Imma start looking at venturing to minimalist, start off with the volts at 10mm heel drop, work down to 4mm new balance

). They are pretty comfy but I've not blasted any real distances in them yet. Just 7 milers. When I got them the guy in the shop told me that I shouldn't be doing any more than 15 mins a go in them but as I'd already switched to forefooting using my old Brooks Ravennas I just strectched it out a bit and they are my shoe of choice for my shorter runs. Next up is the 233's
The new Nikes (Freerides?) have been getting some class reviews. Have you been able to give them a go yet? I had 2150s a few years back (still use them for treadmill work) but they toe-d like a mutha****er so got dropped from my street rotation which is why i dodged the 2170 and went for my Saucony Guide 5s instead but I'm also massively tempted by the new Brooks Pure range. They look mean, man. Really meanA lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Lad in work has a pair of the 5mm and 3mm frees. They're lovely shoes. He's out injured so not running in them at the moment though.
We've got a new reebok one in too. Yet to see it but tempted to order a pair for the sake of it. Dunno the style name.Contrary to popular belief, I have huge genitals.

Some important points to remember, the only people qualified to give dietary advice are deiticians, if someone is a nutritionist ignore them cos they are frauds.
You do not need to make major changes to your diet, in fact temporary switches to diets are not a positive thing. Best thing you can do is to keep your diet to around 2000kcal a day and no more than about 60g of fat, unnsaturated is better than saturated and add 30mins of exercise, even if it is just walking.
Britta water filters have no health benefits as your water is already filtered, they are all about taste and nothing more, they are really only needed if you live in an area with hard water.
Kris your PT is unlikely to be an expect on dietary advice and he is wrong about being hyperhydrated as that can removed needed electrolytes from the body which can cause a variety of issues.
Kris there is no evidence linking normal caffeine consumption to any adrenal issues, the only real concern with caffeine should be if you have high blood pressure.
Full fat milk is only 4% fat, it is not an issue unless you consume a great deal of it.
Carbohydrates, fats and sugars are all needed by your body if you balance your diet correctly and don't over eat then you should have no issues.
The internet is full of **** for the most part, you are better off getting information from the NHS site ahead of anywhere else.
Cereals are fine, especially in the morning.

isnt this just for the health and general well being of your kettle?Originally posted by Mattshark View Post... they are really only needed if you live in an area with hard water.
surely there is nothing wrong with some extra dissolved minerals and calcium in your drinking water, after all, most bottled waters have it in.removing all the weak links makes us stronger

Just taste and the possibly the well being of you kettle. There is not health issue with the minerals in tap water at all, some people don't like the taste of it at all.Originally posted by baitman View Postisnt this just for the health and general well being of your kettle?

Generally speaking hard water is not an issue for the north and north west of the country, it is worst in the south east and the midlands.Last edited by Mattshark; 25-04-12, 01:34 PM.

I've got 6 pairs and to be honest, Dom. It could be far, far worse.Originally posted by dom9 View PostDan / Rowan
How many pairs of running shoes do you have?
Still, I do about 40+ miles most weeks so you need to have decent rotation going
