Nope all good! I trained through it and come out the other side just fine. It's just a result of muscle soreness (not strain etc).

Took it a little easier as its my first time again after the flu. Tough going, but I'm gonna keep chugging. Out again tommorow after work

My calf muscle is still very tight, ****ing annoying as the rest of me is just fine.

Hoping someone from here could answer the following about recent Garmin GPS watches (can't seem to find out from searching web) as I'm thinking of an upgrade as I do lots of running.

Mine is quite old, I've got the Forerunner 205 (released 2006 IIRC!), it's a decent watch but doesn't have a heart rate monitor or other basic functions newer ones have like ANT or an accelerometer etc. The 205 comes with Windows software (Garmin Training Centre) that allows me to transfer my run data to my PC without having to upload it to Garmin connect, which the newer ones seem to use.

Those that have newer Garmins and [hence] Garmin Connect - can you ONLY upload it straight to the web or does yours work with software to allow you to store and view the data locally only?

Just FYI the watches I'm considering are the 220 to 235, and 620-630. So if anyone has any of these any reviews would also be appreciated.

          Thanks for any info.

The missus went for therapy the other week and her physio says to take this sport up as it's really good for helping bad joints which I suffer from, in addition to this it's supposed to burn more fat and improve your core strength.

I purchased some Gabel Nordic walking poles last night so I'm looking forward to giving it a go. Was wondering whether anyone on here does it.

            Thanks.
            What is Nordic walking?
            Oh I don't know.

Hi CM. I've only had my Fenix for 3 weeks so am still getting used to using it. Workouts are stored and can be viewed on the watch but the info available is pretty limited and requires you to scroll through screens to read it. You have control of the menus and layout so can focustomise on the data you want to use. You can also set up training programs from the watch. All in all though, connection to my Galaxy phone is instant as soon as a Bluetooth connection is made and syncs so easily that I wouldn't look further than Garmin Connect. My watch has sleep and activity tracking so the whole package of sleep, activity, exercise and nutrition makes it really useful.

I'm torn between selling this and buying the Fenix HR but it would only be for monitoring my heart rate at work and during the night as I use a chest strap when exercising. Not sure that optical heart rate monitoring is accurate enough during exercise to warrant losing the strap. I think I'll wait to see if Garmin release a replacement watch strap with a heart monitor built in to the inside of the wrist as that'll be the clincher for me

I've screenshot a treadmill run from last week. There's so much more data available - lactate threshold, vo2 max, race predictor etc. and all can be set and viewed without the need for Garmin Connect. I'm not sure how many workouts can be stored but I've got about a dozen or so on mine so far. You can delete them but not sure if they're deleted from G Connect when sync

Hey Dom. It's walking except you use two specific Nordic walking poles, they're different to walking poles. Basically it was formed from cross country skiers who had to train in the summer. Supposedly uses 90% of your body's muscles and can burn up to 45% more fat than normal walking. The GF and I went round a lake with them yesterday for the first time. Not easy at all, the key is to lengthen your stride and then you push the poles into the floor so you're propelling yourself forwards. I'm going to try and use them 3 times a walk. Only downside is you look a bit of a dork doing it. Lol
