Awesome - good luck and try to enjoy the occasion - I've always wanted to do a London Marathon! I've done 6 now - did my 1st at 46 - its addictive but also a killer physically on the body - hoping to do a final one next year for my 60th but its getting harder to get all the k's in months after month without niggling injuries. CheersAll you touch and all you see

Interesting article here. Saying that short bursts of any activity really help reduce health risks. And short spells in a very hot bath

We've been told our Cycle to work scheme has changed now from a budget of 2k to 4k.
I'm going to see what our mortgage payments increase to next February before making a final decision on what bike to go for. I kind of had my heart set on getting an electric commuting bike for work, something more comfortable than the Bossnut but I'm kind of torn somewhat as I also want to get better at Mountain Biking so I'm thinking a new MTB might be the better move seen as mine needs a lot of work doing.
What are people's thoughts on electric mountain bikes? Expensive or not worth it in people's opinions?
Any recommendations for a MTB or E-MTB under 4k that I can get via the Halfords C2W scheme which also includes Treadz and a large number of Independent retailers?
I'd like a Bird Aeries AM9 but I don't think I can get Bird bikes via the scheme.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Yeah, they look very good. I personally can't justify the cost for it (or the space), but it looks very good tbf. I really like how you can change weight on concentric and eccentric portions of a lift.Originally posted by Norbs View PostI fancy spending some money, getting rid of our running machine and rower and concentrating on resistance work. I'm obsessing about the gym monster 2, it looks ridiculously compact. Has anyone tried or seen one? Could I ever justify the cost?
I haven't tried it though, i think i'd find it a bit... weird.

It is a lovely and very well made piece of kit. Great functions, really easy to use and has a number of great common sense safety options. Hardly any set up time getting it ready the first time too. Plus you can do a fair bit with it without a subscription.
But, and for me it is a big but, it's resistence levels are quite low and it is, imo of course, more suited to a regular woman working out than a man (though more thinking of a larger man) as a result.
The max resistence level is between 95kg and 100kg which is too low for me. Was not a big fan of the exercise programmes that came with it either, but that is probably more down to me having my own tried and tested (for me) sets and programmes.
I much prefer a more old school analogue set up and have such in my home gym is set up that way, but a lot more space is needed for such and the GM 2 on the other hand does cram an awful lot of uses into very little floor space.
You also cannot connect spotify or Tidal to it for work out playlists. Think Apple and Amazon music can connect to it.
So you would have to decide yourself based on your own upper limits. If it is to be a shared piece of kit that you and your other half use and the upper resistence level is not an issue, then there is very little "wrong" with it.
As for justifying the cost...well only you know how much genuine use you (and maybe others in the household) may get out of it. Plenty of use and it would be worth the money.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I have rarely used the equipment I have but that's mainly to do with there being too much clutter in my man cave. I think I'd use it and having not done weights before I've nothing to gauge it againstOriginally posted by labourRed View PostYeah, they look very good.
