Will see if I can watch this at some point but any chance you can elaborate on these bits mate? Am I right in saying there's good evidence for post exercise protein supplements and that energy drinks are useful for endurance sports? I recognise there is a lot of bull**** out there but I could swear by those two things!Like blood on iron

Post exercise shakes are a good way to get the right amount of nutrients to the fatigued muscle and aid recovery. That being said the post exercise shake needs to be individualised so that it specifically gives your body the right amount of protein fats and carbs. Endurance events again need specific planning to give your body the right amounts of nutrients at the right times...this will ensure your body is fully glycogen loaded pre event to help maximise results and adequate nutrients are taken post event to again replenish depleted glycogen which will aid recovery and avoid your body becoming catabolic. Nutrition is a specific topic and the numbers involved are different in every individual case!

What's in the shake and what exercise are you doing? Are you substituting the shake for other fluid and food intake?Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostRegardless of what Panorama says, I get better results with a pre & post workout shake.

Sounds like good common sense, but there's more to it. When does the drink deliver the energy? Would you still have had that energy without the drink? Would you have had enough protein anyway?Originally posted by MrNice View PostSimple Biology ... your muscles need energy when you tear them up ... pre energy ridden shakes and post protein shakes are MoneyLike blood on iron

Fueling is very important ... If you work our regularly you certainly notice it when you get it right and when you dont ..
I have been working out pretty solidly for close to 18 years, I think a lot of it is down to your own body and how it responses, personally I tend to do better on less calories when I am working out especially aerobic cross training, weights its different, you can fuel yourself so you have more explosive power, train to failure, then literally give you body muscle food when it needs it most ...
All that said .. I do not know the first thing about nutrican when it comes to training ... works well enough for me though ......
Dont eat Spag Ball 30 minutes before Circuit training ... thats never a good ideaAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Nov 2015
