i know i'm just having fun as well - footy last night was a killer - we had a really good 10 - so split the teams quite evenly (so i thought) with a lad on mine being prob the best, but certainly the fittest there.....
he was running late, so started in goal, first shot they had he stretched and done his hamstring
- it meant that he stayed in goal for the whole game....leaving four of us chasing a much fitter team that were rotating the keeper so they kept fresh...plus it meant we were a 'good player' down meaning our two **** players where constantly playing out.
i was ****ing knackered after it.

Micoach tells me today that that's my longest ever run and most calories burned in a single run
Re: trail running. My route today was bridle path, tight woodland, round a football pitch and across a golf course. What sort of allowance for time would yousens make for those conditions? I thought 1hr 8mins sounds a bit slow but I was doing a load of mud dodging
As alway, I've attached evidence of my run

So Mo Farah would record the same speed running round Lytham bay or wherever than he would on a lovely track? GTFOOriginally posted by PTP View Postno allowance lol
i run on the beach, in sand, and it's always windy as **** but i just get on with it

Reckons it's worth a minute per mile at least, if not two

Good work mate! I give myself 30 to 45 seconds a mile for cross country if that helps and between 1:30 (rarely) to 2:30 (more likely) when doing fell.Originally posted by Norbs View PostRowan: 29.1km

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I think that's sensible up to a point. Just don't push your body too far on those long runs. Statistics show that most injuries from running occur on longer runs. Knock a bit of pace off over the distance and take it easy and you'll find you cover a long distance without putting too much strain on your body and you'll really enjoy it.

Work on your gait.Originally posted by Norbs View Post
It's definitely spurred me on in the last few weeks. Advice at how to control my shin pain has really helped too. I'm going to cut the amount of runs but increase the distance, hopefully that should give me more recovery time in between. Is that sensible?

And if you haven't already done so then purchase/ steal and enjoy a copy of Born to Run by Chris McDougal. That book saved my knees!!A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. Cheers guys.
Last summer I had cut my 6km flat circuit to 8:30m/mile and running a shade over 10mins per mile, albeit double the distance nearly, was a bit depressing. I'm definitely lacking confidence as I run at the moment, fearing hurting my shins/calves all the time. Last two runs have been a little less painful though so I guess confidence will return. Today I could've carried on for another 3-4k I think, I've never felt that energised after an hour which is something positive. I suppose I was only running barely over walking pace

I think my inability to run might stem from the followingOriginally posted by Rowan View PostAnd if you haven't already done so then purchase/ steal and enjoy a copy of Born to Run by Chris McDougal. That book saved my knees!!
1) Weighing 14st
2) Being 44yrs old
3) Never having run since school until last year
All things considered I'm doing ok
