Play store has some free metronome apps. The only reservation I'd have is it running alongside music. I think once you know the pace you'd remember it so I guess a few runs without music

Annoyingly with micoach I set myself a run from a program thingy that was just all bluezone (hose who have micoach will know I mean) however I ran most of it in green zone when looking at my chart...so the cunts on,y scored me 6% for the run
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Nope,
What you need to do to use it via gps is firstly do a assessment run
It's like 12 mins and it asks you to walk for a min, jog at 20% for couple minutes then 40% etc until it says run flat out for say 30 seconds,
It monitors the distance covered whilst running each zone so to speak and then sets your zone parameters
It takes a a couple of goes to get it right....eg I did an assessment to 'well' if that makes sense
Then when i did a programmed run, when asked to run green zone for 10 minutes which is like standard joggin pace, I was running flat out and struggling to keep in the green zone.
So I redid an assessment and toned down my effort if you like, then my zones where more achievable
Basically you should have it as
Blue zone....light jog, comfortable, but you are moving decent speed
Green zone...normal jog...breathing is heavier, bit of sweat building up
Yellow zone...running...sweat is on effort is there, but at this pace you'd prob last 5 mins or so
Red zone...flat out sprint.
What I like is when you have your zones set, you can set schedules for example a 30 min run that is broke down into 5 mins blue, 2 mins green, 1 min yellow and then back to blue and repeat
After the run you then get scored on how often you hit each zone etc
Also what's good is the coach tells you what today, so if I am running at green pace but should be blue pace, the app tells u to slow down, but if you slow down to much it tells you to speed up, until you are in the right pace/zone
I love, made running so much more intesting for mei own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

The lowest heel drop I use is 10mm and that is more than low enough for me. I also only use those on 10k runs at a max. The problem with the barefoot stuff is you need to train your feet so say you got something with a 4mm drop the you'd maybe run a mile, stop, change in to your regular shoes, run a couple more then do the last half in the lower drop. Over a period of months you build that up. I had a pair of innov8 235s. Got greedy, starting blasting 10 milers on them, ****ed my plantar up. So a failed experiment for me but I know people who swear by them (having gradually upped their mileage).Originally posted by Norbs View PostAnd what would happen if you wore a pair of these and then heel struck/strikeded/striken? Would that be certain death?
For me... And this is just from personal experience. You're better of moving to forefoot or midfoot striking and then picking out a solid but lightweight neutral shoe with a 12mm drop or maybe a touch more. Something like a mizuno wave rider or even a pair of Pegs. They are comfy, cheap and practically bombproof.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I bet you haveWilkinson
Cheers Rowan. I've probably got 7 or so months left in my current shoes and so will shop for something neutral next time. Do Asics or even Adidas have an equivalent?Originally posted by Rowan View PostThe lowest heel drop I use is 10mm and that is more than low enough for me. I also only use those on 10k runs at a max.
