Yeah she finally "noticed" when she said. "You can really see the difference in your upper body, you're wider than before"

I guess I can take that as asome sort of compliment. It's the lower abs and stomach that I need to work on even more to trim off that last remnants of the beer gut. That's why I incorporate 80 crunches into every workout...medicine ball crunches and raised crunches. It'll build a solid core as well as the abs area and then my diet and "cut" will take care of the flab...or so I hope lol
    Cheers

What running jacket have you guys gone for?

Mine is a florescent cycling jacket and it's not the best. Need something bit warmer with pockets to carry my phone and house keys.

      Any tips?

Just a bright yellow Adidas one. Got a waterproof pocket in the back for my key and phone. Think it was about £40.

I'll have a look later for the name of it.

Its great, got little holes in the back panel to stop so much sweat building up.

But best to rest up if you think so. I guess listening to your body is a good thing.
Shin splints is a set if symptoms rather than specific condition so it depends. If it's tibial stress fracture related then yeah it would take an age to heal. But people can get 'shin splits' from other things too like periosteal tissue inflammation, that can settle quite quickly but problem tends to recur unless gait/muscular imbalance/whatever else is causing it is corrected. I use to get that, it was my dodgy biomechanics.

I'm nearly 38 too so it's about time I got off my fat arse and did something about it.

I also have one of those food bullet things that blends food up nicely so I can make protein shakes, energy drinks with fruits and vegetables etc.

I'm tempted to throw a McDonalds in it (the whole meal) to see how gross it is and put myself off. I hope it's not nice

Here is a bit of inspiration - Thor Bjornsson - 6'10" 183K / 403lbs - just under 29 stone and ripped. He's only 25 & finished 3rd at last year's Worlds' Stongest Man. Due to appear in Game of Thrones.
                        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

That's not inspiration for me as he is a dedicated athlete. I'm more inspired for people with jobs and families that manage to get in shape and clean up their diet.

A semi naked man taking pictures of himself in a mirror doesn't do much to inspire me either.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
