Slinks have you tried Couch to 5k?

I know you have to want to start something, but it really does ease you into it. Plus it sort of gives you a schedule you need to stick too.

Maybe look at something like that.

I'm just knackered you know, feel completely drained. I work in a call centre and although I'm sitting down all day the job itself is mentally draining. I feel totally worn out when I get home, as well as that I am always starving so don't have the energy to go running.

I always tell myself I'll give it a couple of hours, give my body time to digest my dinner and then I'll be raring to go but if anything I feel worse.

Struggling to even concentrate on reading a book right now. I can feel the weight coming on my stomach now more than it ever has and because of the way I feel it's making me not want to get out and exercise.

Sorry to sound like a downer lads.

slinky la - i've had the same. - get in from work and you feel drained/dead, can't be arsed moving etc etc

the best thing i found was - despite how much it hurts...how ****ty you feel, how tired you are....literally the second you walk in from work, get ready straight away and out the door...literally be out within 15 mins of getting home.

And just do a quick 15-20 min jog. What's 20 mins....

say you get in at 6pm? there is **** all on the tele anyway - force yourself out - and before 7pm you will be sat at home, having been for a run, showered, dressed feeling fresh and 100 times better.

trust me mate - i am one of the worst for getting home, zoning out and just sitting there all evening - sometimes i enjoy nothing more....but honestly you feel 100 times better if you force yourself out for the run.

Doesn't even have to be long, doesn't even have to be full exertion of energy.

it clears your head, it gets rid of the drowsy, brain dead feeling you get after work..

the way i look at it - if i force myself out for that 20 minute run....i can then sit on my arse all night and not move and i can enjoy it as i i know i've earned it.

It's true. No matter how tired and lethargic you feel, you'll feel so muc more energy once you've got a run out of the way.

          Time to man up.
it is though - i've been there. I've had the arguments with mates who do more manual/on your feet work.

after work i'd be ****ed - they couldn't understand why, "lazy *******, you've been sitting down all day...i've been up doing such and such" - thing is they've been active so they muscles/body etc is pumped/up and running

i'd be brain dead....completley zoned out - so i do back Slinky there.....

however the difference is i do force myself up - maybe not as much as i should or want to - and i do have days where i think **** it i ain't moving for ****....

but even then i still have two games of footy a week as a minimum and i try to never miss them.

seriously slinks - i know what your saying, but believe me a little 15 to 20 min jog, doesn't 'hurt' you and it makes you feel a lot better

i find with my two games of football the same thing slinky is saying...

Monday i play 8pm till 9pm - Monday i hate it before hand....dread going....why, well it's after the weekend....which usually means i've been on a session so feel rough as ****...plus its the start of the week, drag yourself to work feeling rough and all you want to do is go home....and then the worst bit - i get home say 6pm.....and i'm sat there. waiting/doing **** all till 8pm. can't do anything cause i've got Footy, and you are sitting there with your brain zoning out and i really can't be arsed moving and then **** i've got to get ready...so many times i've been so close to ****ing it off, but i force myself there, sometimes i really struggle, i play ****, it kills me off, i hate every minute of it -

but after it - i go away feeling so much better and knowing that after the weekend i've sweated it out

Thurs i play 7pm till 8pm this game tho, i can't wait for it - i love it/i'm ready for it.....i'm more awake/active as its later on in the week so my body is more alive....i've (usually ) not been out getting smashed mon/tues/weds -

Plus the key thing....the time - it's at 7pm...so i literally get in from work and i have to get ready/changed straight away, don't have time to sit down (which is when you start to zone out) and i am off out to play. I play much better on the thursday

every week it's the same - love thursday/hate monday - but i'd never give that monday game up cause thats the most important - the one that drags my sorry arse out when i really don't want to

              Right slinky

              what are your plans tonight???

              what time do you finish???

I challenge you to get home, changed and outside ready to run within 15 mins of walking through the door. No sitting down, no i'll just relax for half an hour first and watch the simpsons, - just get out. Run for 20 mins max, just light jog round the block.

And then come on here and tell us how much better you feel.

if you don't feel better you need to go the doctors

if you don't do it because of some lame excuse i vote that you should be banned

Poor Slinks. I know it may feel like we're picking on you, but we're only trying to motivate you

I'm off for a run at 12 and its so beautiful and sunny outside. I can't wait!

How do you deal with stinking the place up when you get back Pobs?

yeah - the thing is, i am hoping coming from me - someone who can be an unmotivated, lazy ******* with the best of them may help

what i mean by that is - when you have people running marathons telling you just do it, it feels great etc it can be a bit not intimidating as such but certainly feel like "well thats easy for you to say, but you go all the time etc etc"

i'm hoping coming from someone in a similar vein of thought, someone who does enjoy getting home and zoning out better than anyone, then it might strike a chord

i know what it's like, i've been there, and i know how much better you feel when you drag yourself out.

                    - plus i've got footy tonight so feeling good.

We've got showers in work, so it's not really a problem.

Run delayed because of work at the moment

Ahh that's pretty helpful. I have to make do with a bathroom cubicle with just a sink and dressing table.

The amount I sweat there's no way I could go for a run without showering after

Just re-totalled my recorded running since I starting tracking it in 2009.

                                Nike+ = 1504km
                                Endomondo = 533km
                                Total = 2037km

The equivalent of running from Anfield to Florence
