I've started tapering down now before the Liverpool Half on the 29th. I'm a little concerned I will lose my fitness in this next 10 days or so while downing my mileage. Do I still push it a bit on these shorter runs or do I just take them easy?

Take it easy - rest assured you've put the training in and enjoy the tapering. Just don't get lazy with your diet, if you're burning less calories it's easy to continue eating your training diet! I've been burnt many times before
+6.1k recovery run from last week. I started before 6am - its 21C and humid. I've lived here for 22yrs and still not got used to exercising in this humidity ..
