Been a decent month of progress, still losing weight and fat. My visceral fat is now well within the normal range. I'm much less sweaty when working or exercising. Dont know how much I can attribute to alcohol abuse but it suits the narrative so gets all the blame

Prefer the narrative that all the improvements can be attributed to your determination and hard work.

Cheers Doc. My brother is embarking on a similar fitness journey and we're secretly, or not so secretly, competitive. It's driving us both. What I was saying though was that without booze in the equation I've made far more progress. It's a bit boring for others to read tbh, possibly more suited to the mental health thread than fitness but they're completely intertwined IMO

I doubt it. I reckon most that read your posts on the topic are saying "Well in Norbs" in their heads are reading each one.

A win is always worth reading about, and big wins like your's even more so.

Plus your story might inspire others to have a crack at something in their own life, be it physical, mental or a mix of both and then get a win of their own.

And I got what you meant about the lack of booze being a big factor in your progress, but for me the lack of booze is still part of the determination and hard work you have put in and are putting in.

It's all on you, fella. Any and all praise you get from anyone has been well earned.

I think I'm one of the oldest on here so hopefully other members can see that someone on the brink of a rapid decline has hopefully changed things around in a short space of time. We shall see bit outwardly I am looking much healthier

It helps that one of the best trainers to follow on the Gym Monster is Sienna. Unlike the body builder fellas, she lifts real weights

Are you? I thought you were only a few years older than I am, and about 78 years younger than SB?

Had you at 56 so I was close enough.

Well I am 52, 53 this August, and I finished a marathon up in Limerick city yesterday so age and previous health issues are as big a barrier or as big a reason to succeed despending on what way folk want to look at things.

You in my eyes are defo in that seeing something as a reason to succeed bracket. You are only months into what you are doing and already have gotten fantastic results and you are only going to see more and more improvements in your physical and mental health as the months tick by.

Stuff age, if you want something enough you find ways to make it work for the level you are at.

Keep on winning Norbs. Am sure in whatever amount of months in the future you and your new level of fitness are going to decide upon a new challenge, and then you will work towards it before smashing it.

I got down to 30" waist and 11st when I got divorced, not sure there was anything healthy about me but my diet was good and exercise intense. Then I met Janet and felt guilty about going to the gym. This time it's different, it's more about seeing this as the last chance to shift fat and look good. We have to have different body goals later in life, to take the strain off our skeleton, heart and internal organs.
