I watched him win the world title against McCall in a pub in London and it was ****ing epic. Amazing atmosphere.
McCall fight was a mental night out from about 7pm with the fight on at about 4am IIRC - I drank myself sober that night! I was at Uni, we piled into a mates' house - there must have been about 75 people in a living room!

I remember the Witherspoon fight too - he was ahead on all the cards as well. If it had been a 12 rounder, he would have been the champ then!

Frank was almost too muscly too move, he had some physique on him.

He didn't have the killer instinct did he. I remember he could've finished Witherspoon off but didn't. He also rocked Lewis and even more memorably proper rocked Tyson. I remember Harry Carpenter screaming "HE'S HURT TYSON! HE'S HURT TYSON!".

Good point Dan7 about everyone watching McGuigan. Like all fights back then, the Benn/Watson/Eubank fights were all live on ITV and it seemed ****ing everybody was watching. Satellite/PPV TV has really damaged boxing (and football, and cricket).
The first Benn v Eubank fight was on a Sunday night (Sunday night FFS! ) in November 1990. Remember staying up late to watch it before school the next day

I thought so. I'm sure another one of those super fights was either midweek live on ITV or a Friday night.

I remember fights like Bruno v Bugner at White Hart Lane being live on telly too.
