I remember us doing it in on day 1 of the 2nd Ashes Test in 2005. TrescothickOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostJoe Root, (out for a duck) must be regretting his 'we can win this' rhetoric. When have England ever, ever scored 400 in a day? Even in one day it doesn't happen.
Otherwise I don't recall it.

I don't even remember that, though that 2005 team had some runs in it. Trescothick was the ultimate opening batsmanOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostI remember us doing it in on day 1 of the 2nd Ashes Test in 2005. Trescothick

Though Cook has discovered some form, and the team is performing better than in the WI I reckon there are still a lot of unanswered problems, and the win against NZ in the first test had them unprepared for test cricket. Don't get me wrong it was a great win, but it would be a travesty if England steal a one nil series win here.
I think there are still a few big questions ahead of the Ashes.Modifying post.

That's unbelievably unfair. You can probably count on one hand how many times a side has scored 400 in a day in the last 10 years. Since Tresco we became number one in the world and enjoyed a real golden period.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI remember us doing it in on day 1 of the 2nd Ashes Test in 2005. Trescothick

We also played some terrific cricket in the last test but when you have a group of young players at the core of the side you are going to ups and downs. It also doesn't help when the captain puts the opposition in
