How long will they persevere with Ballance this time round?
I know he's scored heavily in county cricket this year (and previously) but standing right on your stumps and barely moving your feet forward is never going to work. Clearly he has a pretty decent eye but it seems staggering that he hasn't altered his technique - or been helped / persuaded to do so.
I was an advocate of Ballance early on but it seems he's one of those who falls into that gap that is too good for County cricket but not a Test level bat. I think they thought he'd be another Trott. No chance. Next!
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
Broad would have been out too if Elgar didn't inexplicably refuse to review. I'm a little pissed off that they didn't let (force) Amla - who is an experienced test captain take the captaincy for this game. I know he doesn't want it, but it's one game until du Plessis would be back. Dropped catches, no balls and reviews have proven costly. If we can get these last few wickets cheaply the scoreboard isn't a disaster but it's frustrating because this innings could have put SA in a match winning position when England were 70/4
