Yeah not a big fan. It can potentially lead to things being a massive anti-climax (looked like the tournament was already over once Scheffler got to -13 yesterday for example).
It is a weird format, like the opposite of a handicap system. Give the best player in the world and advantage (rather than a handicap) and most times you are in for a one-sided affair?
The final a couple of years ago with Cantlay and DeChambeau duking it out in the playoff was one of my favourite golf tournaments to be fair, they were both incredible.

Scheffler's putting has been awful. He's missed quite a few 3-5ft putts. I think it is mental at this point. Hope it stays that way for the Ryder Cup!
Hovland used to have a similar glaring weakness in his short game but he's improved it now and look at him go!
Hovland is firmly in the battle for best in the world now alongside Scheffler, Rory and Rahm. Those 4 are well clear for me.
Ryder Cup is definitely set up nicely for a much closer contest anyway!

Wow.
Newly turned professional Ludvig Aberg will make his Ryder Cup bow for Europe after being named in captain Luke Donald's six wildcard picks on Monday.
The 23-year-old, who only turned professional in June, won the European Masters in Switzerland on Sunday.
"I have faith in Ludvig - I think he'll be a generational player," said Donald.
Tommy Fleetwood, Sepp Straka, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry and Nicolai Hojgaard have also been picked for the 12-man team to face the United States in Rome.
They join Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland and Tyrrell Hatton, Matt Fitzpatrick and Robert MacIntyre who claimed the six automatic qualification spots for the biennial match, taking place at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club from 29 September-1 October.
Europe will attempt to regain the Ryder Cup from the United States on home soil following a record 19-9 defeat at Whistling Straits in 2021.

He's been smashing the amateur game for years tbf. Not sure his reasons for delaying turning Pro but he's got a full PGA card for next season. First amateur to be given it so clearly quality.
Very harsh on Morenk but not sure who you drop, Don't want too many debutants. Lowry seems the luckiest.

Ya Lowry a bit lucky but I think his personality and passion for the event stood him in good stead. Him and Rory would be a good team as wellOriginally posted by Liverpool View PostHe's been smashing the amateur game for years tbf.
