The one thing they wanted to do when they started the A League was unite fans in a city/ town instead of Clubs going down the ethnic backgrounds like Marconi being Italian , Melbourne Knights being Croatian Olympic being Greek etc if that makes sense. I remember going to matches in the old NSL days & not being welcomed at grounds like Sydney United due to me not being Croatian. I was there as a neutral but not made to feel welcome. The 1 team per town was supposed to do away with that but they folded & went there again anyway.
Yeah from 3 teams in QLD to just one & for them to be the laughing stock of the league is a joke. Sack the owners is one way of kickstarting it I suppose but certainly no more clubs. I get the 2nd team in NZ reasoning seeing as they are two islands but to me having the one team but playing matches possibly at both islands could have been better for their numbers.

I agree they’ve got the new clubs wrong and put them in some bad spots and rushed others in. I don’t know what the right approach would have been because you do want it to grow but it’s not worked the way they’ve done it. It was going along nicely but they’ve made plenty of bad decisions that have stopped the progress it was making. Issues with fans groups seems a weird one as well.
My thing was more a hope they start again in Brisbane or do something to get rid of the owners rather than supporting new clubs. I’m so frustrated at what has happened. I loved going to watch them with my dad, regular crowds of 10,000-15,000 with a good atmosphere and the Den did a great job. They stepped in at Newcastle and got rid of other clubs so I’m just hoping they do something as the roar is on its own in Queensland and should be stacked with the best Queensland talent and able to compete even without the same benefits teams in other states have.
Look at what CCM have been able to achieve without being anywhere near as big as other clubs. That’s a model Brisbane should be following. Great production line and making money selling them off overseas.
I can’t believe O’Shea is still there but maybe that’s the Queensland lifestyle, same way Broich stuck around.
I watched the first half of the Auckland WU game. Auckland’s bubble was burst big time.

Expansion is what’s ruined the league in the first place. There’s not enough local talent & not enough money to recruit decent OS players for a league of this size.
I watched the Melbourne Derby last night & that was a decent game to watch. High energy football with a bit of class occasionally made for good entertainment.

Unbelievable result. Just fold the club or get rid of the owners. They have absolutely destroyed the club. I hope when the next expansion team comes along it’s a second Brisbane team. They deserve a properly run club. The league needs to do something with the roar being the only Queensland team. Ruining football in the state.

Just watched the worst game of football in my life I reckon. If there was a worse one I’ve forgotten about it. Roar at home vs Perth with zero clue how to beat the bottom side who haven’t won in 18 matches. The poor *******s that paid to go & sit through that deserve a refund.

Yeah they played well . Bartlett is in great form with the ballOriginally posted by peterbread View PostSaw highlights of the heat win. Didn’t see all of it but they said they were missing a lot of their top players. A few injured and some with the test team. Good signs for another good season hopefully.

Anyone see the Big Bash last night? Sydney Thunder needed 35 I think it was from the last 2 overs with I think 6 wickets down. Daniel Sams hit 31 off the 2nd last over to make the last over a formality.

What about Peps job in Austria?Originally posted by peterbread View PostKisnorbo quits after only six months at the Victory for an overseas opportunity. Hope it goes better than his last one. Not really a good look to be honest. I know they might not come that often but that’s not a good look. Haven’t seen where it is but you’d think to do that he’d have to be moving to a decent league.

Yeah I saw that at the time too. So desperate for a single point when they are at the bottom of the ladder. It’s not like we’ve got relegation to worry about.Originally posted by peterbread View PostJust saw a clip from the Brisbane WSW game of Zadkovich telling a player to go down. He points to his watch and then his hamstring. The club has gone so far backwards order the current ownership and to have the coach so blatantly instruct players to go down isn’t on.

The location of the expansion teams seems a bit off too. Non of them seem to have been able to establish themselves and build a decent fan base, apart from WSW but even they dropped off big time. But at least WSW was a good pick location wise but Macarthur and Western United, horrible name, weren’t great. I’m mean they’ve already had two expansion teams go out.
Even Melbourne City haven’t built a decent fan base and they’re right in Melbourne, might have actually done better if they’d stayed as Heart rather than the rebrand. Shouldn’t have let City group completely change them.

Totally faking injuries. Even the keeper just sat down when the ball went out despite no one being anywhere near him. I could understand an away team feeling cramps in the warmer climate in QLD but it was the Roar playing in Sydney. And yeah Auckland have recruited well & hit the ground running. Personally I think they’ve stuffed up the league with their expansion plans. Just not enough quality players for the number of teams.Originally posted by peterbread View PostI heard about that. One of many things they need to fix in football but refuse to do anything about it.
Was it faking injuries or a bit of everything?
I can’t believe Auckland have come in and started so well in their first season. Doesn’t make the rest of the teams look very good.
