That’s true. I also hate how they seem to want them to be allowed to throw a few punches. The talk about shutting up mouthy players if you can hit them is ridiculous.Originally posted by SB View PostI’m not a huge Origin fan actually ( supporting the Blues can do that to you lol ) The referees seem to throw the rule book out the window as the crowd wants to see big hits & the like & the Clubs of those players are the ones that are impacted when injuries or suspensions happen. I’d be happier if it was at the end of season
When they had the state of origin all in one go a few years ago it worked so much better. I don’t get why they can’t change it and have it over three weeks at the end of the season or something. Players having to then back up 2 days later after that isn’t right.

I watched it. They looked so comfortable and like you said should have scored more. They all put in so much and I feel for them today. Positive signs, they win more if they play like that. They looked much better defensively today which is the big plus.
Also watched the Chiefs v brumbies. Absolutely brilliant game. High quality attacking rugby, very entertaining.
Are you watching the Vegas games later?

Australia are u-20 Asian cup winners.
Big win that, hopefully some of them can go on and do it for the senior team. Good signs for the future. The A-League is also second in the world, I think, for minutes given to u-20 or u-21. It’s finally turned into a development league where it’s about clubs producing young players and backing them in the first team. With all the recent sales from A-League teams they will be able to make some good money which in turn will go into more development.

Yeah I was really gutted for them, deserved to win that.Originally posted by peterbread View PostI watched it. They looked so comfortable and like you said should have scored more. I’m out for the early match but should find a replay hopefully.
That’s so good & yeah hope the money is used wisely.Originally posted by peterbread View PostAustralia are u-20 Asian cup winners.

They’ll be there again won’t they. Doesn’t matter who they lose they keep going. Cronulla gave them a good game and they didn’t show a replay so I don’t know for sure but it looked like it should have been a knock on at the end but the ref didn’t call it.
Canberra looked good as well, warriors didn’t really threaten them.
I wonder how much impact the big travel and huge change in routine like that makes not just for the game but potentially for the early rounds when it’s not something any of them are used to.

I’ve seen that the crowds weren’t as good this year and that people couldn’t come and go from the stadium and had to stay inside once they went in, no returns. That’s a long time to be in there and if you wanted to watch the English teams and then the panthers you have to sit through all the other games.
Maybe go back to two games or three at the most or let people come and go. I’ve seen people mention magic round being three games and that’s about the max they could do.
Also how’s the weather looking SB? Just heard about the cyclone because the Lions game will be postponed. I can’t imagine a cyclone coming to Brisbane. How’s it looking for the Gold Coast?

Oh that’s weird they were saying over here the crowds were up & it was a huge success. I’ll ask my nephew when he gets back.Originally posted by peterbread View PostI’ve seen that the crowds weren’t as good this year and that people couldn’t come and go from the stadium and had to stay inside once they went in, no returns. This morning seems to be the calm before the storm so far. Showers & gusty winds the last 2 days but they expect it could cross land between Sunshine Coast & Byron. I started a Bad Weather thread in the Chat forum.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Well that’s not a bad start to the season and the Madge era. Didn’t see that one coming but I was hopeful of a better season and a more well rounded team but 50 points away to the roosters, wow. Didn’t watch it so don’t know how bad the roosters are, I know they’re not as good as they have been.

Where do the Roosters go from here? It’s only round 1 and the season might be over!Originally posted by peterbread View PostWell that’s not a bad start to the season and the Madge era.
