Thanjk you.

I think Lescotts ability at set pieces means he is rated a lot better than he actually is. Everytime he plays for England he looks painfully out his depth.
I'd bite their hand off if I was Moyes. I'd enquire about Richards as part of the deal for RB, snap up Bougherra from Rangers for centre back and then snap up Moutinho from Sporting. Failing all that I'd get Hangeland from Fulham and still have £7m change at the least.

True about the set piece ability, true but it is worth a few million on his price.
He contributes a fair few goals each season, a bit like John Terry, something Liverpool are badly lacking in lately actually, especially with Sami leaving :candle:

It's the classic fantasy league defender gets lots of points and attention for his goals, which covers for any defensive failings. £20m I'd snap their hand off, but maybe they think if they play hard ball they can up the fee further.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

As much as I dislike the bluenoses I would like to see them keep playing hard ball as I hate what is happening with City, and before with the Chavs, in trying to buy the title in one transfer window. I know they bought a few when they first got taken over but in reality it is this transfer window where they are trying to buy the title, two centre backs, one midfielder (so far) and 35 strikers. I also know that if we were in the same position we would all be hoping to hear we have signed this big name and that big name but I would like to think that we would also do it a bit more subtlely with only a couple in one transfer window and a couple in the next.
Going back to Moylesy I actually would like him, especially as he has come out and complained about the way City have gone about things, to accept a bid from City and then when they say so can we open talks with Lescott go back to them and put the price up by £5m and keep doing this. In fact I would like any team who gets approached by City and their billions to do the same and frustrate the hell out them but in reality I know that will not happen.
£20 million for Lescott is complete and utter madness. He's a good player and a big asset at set pieces etc but he's not worth that sort of money.
"Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

I've got to admire Moyes stance here...we made you the player you are, you signed the contract, so you are damn well staying put. Let's see what Lescott, and City, do next.

Everton manager David Moyes has criticised Manchester City's pursuit of Joleon Lescott and warned Mark Hughes that he makes the decisions at Goodison Park.
Lescott has been involved in an ongoing transfer saga over the summer and seems to have his heart set on City after recently handing in a transfer request.
But his request was turned down and the Scottish manager is still adamant that the centre-back will not be sold during the current transfer window.
Now Moyes has hit out at City manager Mark Hughes, saying that he has not approached the correct person when negotiating the deal.
"He (Hughes) said that he was looking to speak to the people who make the decisions. Well he knows who makes the decisions at Everton: it's me," Moyes said on Sky Sports News.
Contact
"He's never once picked up the phone and given me a phone call, so you're not going to get the answer. I'm the one who makes the decisions here, not like other clubs."
The Scottish manager claims that the uncertainty over Lecott's future has hampered preparations for the new season at Everton, even accusing City of trying to deliberately disrupt his squad.
He thinks that Hughes could learn a lesson from fellow big-spenders Real Madrid on how to execute a transfer in an acceptable manner.
"We've been talking about it and we've not been concentrating on the start of the season, it's disrupted us, so maybe that's what overall whole plan was," Moyes added.
"But I look back and I look at the way Real Madrid did their business with Manchester United; done right at the end of the season, done quickly, allows Manchester United to buy if they want to do so.
Value
"We can't be getting offers with a week or two to go until the end of the deadline and the offers they made show that we value Joleon Lescott far greater than Man City do.
"Joleon's a massive player for us, I've always said we don't want to lose him, we think so much of him here, the players think so much of him. We don't want Joleon to go, simple as that."
Moyes claimed that Lescott had had his "head twisted" by the approach from City before reiterating that the 26-year-old should realise he is not going to be allowed to leave Everton.
He said: "Lescott has had his head twisted in all of this. I hear that City think they are talking to people who make the decisions here, well that's me.
"I make the decisions, they have not talked to me and the player has been consistently told he is not for sale. He should get his head around that and get on with his career."

You know what? I find myself rooting for Moyes in this one. Has a lot of guts keeping an "unhappy" player in the books. He's got 3 years on his contract, Everton don't have to sell, **** the Klingon. Contracts are supposed to mean something, don't they?
