Aye, begrudgingly I say fair play to him. He still comes across as a sour, bitter and twisted ******* though.

He's doing the right thing for his club and standing up to the moneybags, which is admirable, but you have to wonder how it will end - Lescott seemingly wants to go so, no matter how hard Moyes tries to dig his heels in, there's surely only one winner.

What's Lescott going to do? Sabotage a game?

No clearly not but if his head's not right, he lacks focus and motivation (which he inevitably will if he really doesn't want to be there), there is a very good chance his form will dip.

Aye fair point. Still believe it'll be a bit of a struggle for him to produce his best form though. People might point to Mascherano and his 'disappointment' at not getting his move to Barca, but he never submitted a transfer request. Lescott must want out a damn sight more than Mash did.

No point submitting a transfer request unless you think it might be granted. And in Lescotts case, this may be his last chance at joining a top team - which City soon will be.

If he doesn't join they'll sign someone else and never look back. Next year they could be in the Champions League and will be looking at the next notch of players up in quality.

Mascher on the other hand is the best in the world at what he does and is likely to get plenty of other chances to join another club if he likes.
                Forwards.......

Fair play to Moyes, but i think he's making a mistake.

Lescott isnt even England's 4th best CB. £20m plus is huge money for him.

Moyes could do a lot of good things with that kind of money. He should sell IMO. Lescott's never worth what they're offering.

I love Hughes' response to Everton's whinging. Nice, thinly-veiled little 'small club' dig:

"We feel we are doing things the right way and through the proper channels," explained Hughes.

"I'm not surprised David feels a bit aggrieved with the situation, you always are when a big club is trying to sign one of your best players."

                    "The headlines were quite predictable.

"At this moment in time our interest is not finished yet.

"I have said before when a deal has run its course we would be prepared to walk away.

"I could pick up the phone and ring David very easily. I would ask him whether I could have his player, he would say no and I would have to put the telephone down. What would be the point of that?

"The thing is we haven't put this into the public domain. Everton did that on their website."

Saw that, thought it was quite blunt really, he's definitely saying City are a big club Everton are not, big club trying to sign small clubs player.

I mean Rafa only ever said "When you play against the 'smaller' clubs" when talking about them getting lots of players behind the ball when they come to Anfield. iirc.

Lescott didn't want to play yesterday apparently, premonition ?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I admire Moyes' stance and dont understand why everyone makes out it's a foregone conclusion that when a player wants out that's it. Mind you judging by their defensive capitulation yesterday maybe it is having a detrimental effect on the team.

For 20 million though i'd snap their hand off.

Can be impressed by them taking a stance, but it's misguided, especially for a club like Everton where 20million buys you half a team.

Everton boss David Moyes has dropped Joleon Lescott from his squad for the Europa League match against Sigma Olomouc because of his "poor attitude".
