Very disappointing. At this level you just can't allow left punish-spacehits a corner past your wall, we all know that.

    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

      A schoolboy error frankly.

Mattersburg is a tiny family club, who have only been in the 1st Division for 3 seasons. Despite the fact that the town of Mattersburg has only 6,000 people, they regularly attract crowds of 11,000 - 15,000.
They are the only club from the province of the amazing wine-producing region of Burgenland, and the Burgenländer finally have something to shout about now.
Do they play football or are they a bit 'Bolton'?

It's very disappointing. I note that Wacker seemed to be doin g fine until we started supporting them.

Yes, that thought had occurred to me too. Oh dear.

No - they play football alright. They try to get the ball down and play it, at any rate. Their captain and star player is a guy called Didi Kühbauer who is an absolute legend in Austrian football.
He's 36 and played on the Rapid team that got to the European Cup Winners Cup Final in '96 and then went on to play for Real Sociedad and Wolfsburg.
He's a really fiery playmaker who orchestrates everything they do. It's a pity his career is winding down, because he's a great character.
They've also recently signed that ex-Bayern donkey Carsten Jancker, who has yet to score for them in 4 games

Football in Austria is in complete disarray at the moment - it's become front page news. First, both Graz clubs were docked points because they're financially screwed
(Here's a report from last week:

                      http://www.cnn.com/2007/SPORT/footba...ref=rss_latest)

Then, GAK have won a legal battle to have the points returned to them

                      http://rawstory.com/news/dpa/GAK_win..._03302007.html

The latest twist is that the President of Pasching has said that he wants to pull his club out of the Bundesliga, offering to give away Pasching's Bundesliga licence
FC Kärten have shown an interest in taking over their licence. Guess who the owner of FC Kärnten (Corinthia) is? None other than loathsome-racist-scumbag-sorry-excuse-for-a-human-being Jörg "KUNT" Haider.

They should simply absorb the Austrian Bundesliga into the German one. No, hang on mo, let me think this through...

...although Rapid were German Champions in 1941!!
We still sing about that in Hütteldorf….

                              Something like this maybe?

Savage everyday fight Boca Ultras hooligan leader Rafael Di Zeo says he 'can't believe' he's been handed jail time for conspiring to use weapons in a riot with Chacarita fans. Di Zeo absconded after he learnt of the jail term, but gave himself up 20 days later. 'It's not like I murdered anyone,' he told Telenueve. 'I'm getting banged up just for a savage everyday fight. And it was against our equals, not grannies in a shopping centre. I'm angry. I've been tortured by the law. The people below me will know what to do.'
