Why not? They've been abysmal this season.

The way Pearce was talking after the game yesterday, he knew his number was up - also said he would be leaving the signing and bringing in of new players to the Chief Executive because he was going to concentrate on the U-21s!!!

I can. The way they all frowned when talking about him on MOTD yesterday suggests it's an open secret he's in danger at least.
        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Warnick has got a big mouth but I agree with Shaggy the guy is absolutely gutted and is gonna be bitter about stuff, in fact anything that comes into his head at the time.

The facts dont lie we did play a weakened team against Fulham and if we hadnt i am sure we wouldnt have lost. For us that game didnt mean anything really but for Fulham along with Sheff U and Wigan what we did had greater implications.

am sure Jewell did the same to Bradford and ****ed off to Weds.
He seemed to struggle at a bigger club. It remains to be seen whether or not he has learnt from the past and will be a success at Citeh or barcodes.

I wonder why he did this? Did the exact same thing after keeping Bradford up on the last day.

I wonder if he is admitting defeat that he cant do anything more with this team and so is getting out while the going is good or if he genuinely has something else lined up.

I have no idea. To me it smacks of someone who's given up and thinks he cant do anything more with this team - but what do I know?

I seem to recall that Jewell had a problem with the Bradford chairman (Geoffrey Richmond) and that was part of the reason he quit. He looks to have a completely different relationship with Dave Whelan. I'm very surprised he's quit - maybe Wigan's ambitions do not match up with his (a bit like Allardyce leaving Bolton).

thought the same, might not have gotten full backing of the board whilst doing so badly, caould be a number of reasons. one might be that he feels he has done what he can do with the team, and not thinking he can take them any further, don't know...

Rafa left Valencia because he felt he didn't get enough backing from the board. I guess Jewell felt that he'd taken Wigan as far as anyone could. I can't imagine he'd resign without at least an inkling of a bigger job.
