Well they certainly didnt mess about.

As for Jewell, all the papers were saying yesterday that if SHinawatra takes over there, then Houllier is his choice as new manager. I have no doubts that Pearce will be made to move on, btu not heard of Jewell being linked before.

Wigan name Hutchings as new boss

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has appointed Chris Hutchings as the club's new manager following the resignation of Paul Jewell.

Hutchings steps up from his role as assistant manager under Jewell, who has decided to take a break from football.

He also succeeded Jewell at Bradford, but lasted less than five months and won one of 12 Premiership games.

"He is a very, very capable manager and he's been Paul's right-hand man for a long time," said Whelan.

I'm off to the bookies to bet on Wigan to go down next season!

There are some very odd changes happening managerially at the minute. You have to wonder how Wigan or Bolton will attract the sort of players they need with managers with so little experience, irrelevant of their quality. It's not as if either team have great squad depth or a wealth of youth to bring through.

I guess Man City changing is to be expected, as Pearce spent money on Corradi and Samoras and they showed no improvement. Add to that the fact that players like Distin don't see a future at the club then you have to look to appointing a big name who might at least help bring in a better class of signing.

Fulham will be OK with Sanchez in control.

Bolton will also be much closer to the drop zone next season.
