Tom Cruise to buy la galaxy

Now the not-so-new best friends are entering new territory with reports that Tom Cruise is launching a £40 million takeover bid of Beckham’s new football club, LA Galaxy.

The football star will officially join the club next month on a five-year deal, which netted him a cool £128 million.

As Cruise, 44, is a huge football fan he has allegedly decided he wants to plough his money into the up and coming LA football club.

A source close to Cruise said: ‘To have Tom’s backing would be amazing - there’s no way Galaxy bosses would turn down that opportunity.’
there is literally no end to this madness
"I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

"You would've been happier if you'd chosen to join your mother in her world. " - Ogami Itto

Yet another result for Beckham - the club's new owner is gonna be his mate. His filthy rich "mate".
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Can't wait for Posh and Becks to be converted to the ways of Hubbard by Crazy Cruise, it will surely be the nadir of popular culture.

In fairness, football has long been our most popular sport at the youth level. My generation is the first one to grow up with a football at our feet ( I am 36). I think that demand has grown as those of us who played it now want to watch it. Our children are also playing, and they want to see it on TV and go to the games. I just thank God that I grew up a Liverpool supporter, given the dire nature of the MLS.

Despite all the celeb hype I cant see MLS ever really taking off. Imagine being a NY Red Bulls fan and having to travel to LA on a wet Tuesday night in winter for a cup game.

And we whinge when we've got Pompey away

MattD, I agree with your comments. I live in Oz, and altough the re-vamped Australian A-League has improved the footy there the games have very little atmosphere because lack of travelling fans. My mates cousin (originally scottish) regularly travels between Perth & Auckland to watch a domestic game. Its a 10 hour flight each way. That must be the furthest domestic away game in the world! Not many other people do it I tell you.

Not sure to be honest mate but even an interstate game could mean a hell of a long trip.

Know what you mean mate. I'm from Liverpool but living in Sydney at the moment. The quality of football is generally poor (the Sydney FC left back looks and plays like a rugby player who's turned up at the wrong ground) but considering its a fledgling league it's not too bad although there are no local rivalries so can't see the game ever usurping League or any of the other favourite Oz sports.

Went to watch Sydney v Urawa Red Diamonds in the Asian CL a few months ago, decent atmosphere and quite entertaining.

Oh and as a side note, does Scott Gemmill now play for Perth? Think his name cropped up in the ****test Everton players thread the other day
