This is a complete rubbish rumor. Lalas was on World Soccer Daily yesterday (over here) and was asked about this and he laughed and said 'No.' I have to say, its funny how when it comes to Americans , you'll believe anything as long as its the worst about us. Type a rumor on the main forum and people rubbish it immediately. Say it on here, say that Americans are all rich religious fanatics who know sweet FA about football, and everyone piles on.

That said, if I had the money, I would love to own a club! Who wouldn't??!

it's a defence mechanism born out of the fear that one day america will have a better league and national team. all this and better teeth too ... who wouldn't be jealous.

In fairness, football has long been our most popular sport at the youth level. My generation is the first one to grow up with a football at our feet ( I am 36). I think that demand has grown as those of us who played it now want to watch it. Our children are also playing, and they want to see it on TV and go to the games. I just thank God that I grew up a Liverpool supporter, given the dire nature of the MLS.
