But a Fifa statement read: "Fifa has recommended that West Ham and Carlos Tevez seek arbitration at CAS."

It continued: "Under the present circumstances this was deemed to be the best approach and in the interest of all parties.

"What is more, we also believe this to be the fastest way to solve this impasse."

"It is not a refusal by Fifa to get involved, quite the contrary. It is a recommendation by Fifa to opt for this way."

Well in those that predicted this going all the way, cos that is going to happen. I may be wrong but Sheffield United have a fair case IMO. Feel sorry for them but i suspect they will be well rewarded for their silence in the end.

If they do not fight and win this case as they should, we will all be better for it for we will know Football has completely lost its way to the almighty $.

eace breaks out as Tevez parties try to avoid court showdown
Last updated at 12:35pm on 27th July 2007

The Carlos Tevez row could be settled without a High Court battle it emerged today, paving the way for the striker to seal his £20million move to Manchester United.

Businessman Kia Joorabchian decided on Tuesday to sue West Ham rather than go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in a bid to force the club to release the Argentine's registration.

However, the signs today are that both sides are working on a draft agreement which would satisfy them and the Premier League.

If the matter were to go to the High Court then the loser would be forced to pay substantial costs and there is also the chance the case would drag on past the 31 August transfer deadline, meaning Tevez would not be able to leave until the turn of the year.

West Ham chairman Eggert Magnusson, who inherited the Tevez issue when his consortium took over the club last November, is keen to move on, while Joorabchian and the Premier League are also eager to resolve the saga.
