One step forward two steps back.

I'd have taken Tevez over Torres any day of the week and i think 20m is stop on for Tevez.

Hope the deal doesn't go through or there's no chance of us even coming close to them.

Tevez scored about 7 winners in a side that was all but relegated.
I think moving from south america takes longer to settle in than from Holland.

Ask yourself would you swap Kuyt for Tevez?

If this does happen I hope we are getting in the required wingers as to miss an oportunaty like Tevez would be a big mistake.

They haven't signed him, and that deal will take time with all the complicated ownership stuff.

And yesterday we smashed our transfer record and signed Torres, remember?
Reading some of the reports lately as regards to the fee doesn't say that we've 'smashed' our transfer record by much, compared to the outlay on Cissé. The final fee is believed to have been £ 20.2 M, with Garcia moving out for £ 4.5 M, making it an outlay of just £ 15.7 M, if these are true.

If the manure rumors that they've signed Tevez are true, we face an uphill struggle for the league next season. That's not being pessimistic at all, just the harsh reality. Gillett & Hicks still have to bring at least two more world class signings for us to be able to compete next season.

I would rather sign Tevez than Quaresma and Mancini.

Good wingers will always be available but a player like Tevez won't be available every season.

Tevez is a £40m-£50m player that is available for £20m-£30m.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I don't always agree with all the bollocks you post but on that one I'd fully concur with.

I don't know about Mancini as I haven't seen much of him but Quaresma ? I know why many top class clubs aren't queuing up for him. He's just ineffective.

I would prefer us to concentrate on our team and not worry about the scum. Why would you strengthen a position we don't need to instead of a position we are weak in. We need wingers, we don't need Tevez. Buying 1 or 2 wingers could have the same or even more of an effect than buying Tevez, they could unlock defenses, score goals, set up goals so our whole team get more goals than Tevez would have added.

That´s it. I´m off following La Liga. Man U. third, Chelsea second and us third, I´ll put money on it.

Goes and looks up spanish teams to follow.

I've been saying this for ages.

However the problem is that the wingers available are none of them yet truly world class and while they might contribute to the team now as they are an improvement of what little we have in those areas Tevez would improve us considerably in the long run.

I still think that the benefits to the team of two added goalscorers in midfield would outweigh anything another striker would do for us.

If this is true then it's not good, not good at all.

The only comfort i can take it the headache this will cause for Slur Alex. Can he accommodate both Rooney and Tevez in the same team? Two very similar players.

I just dont see how this could possibly work - Rooney and Tevez are far too similiar, neither are out and out goalscorers and they both do their best work outside of the box.
The mancs are crying out for a striker in the mould of Torres or perhaps even Defoe/Owen.
If he does go there i can see them becoming quite unbalanced and it may backfire and **** up what is a very good side.
I would be more concerned if they signed a goalscoring striker.

Uniteds media team are always doing this, We sign a big star, then they 'leek' that they are close to Signing a big star, takes away from the other teams. Remember when we won the treble and Fergie said that he was going to quit, or when Arsenal went unbeaten and they were linked with any big name player in the world

Whilst no championship is won by playing football manager, they would possess a formidable array of attacking talent, and bring much needed strength in depth in terms of quality to Fergie.

Their weakness was in central midfield and they also needed a more reliable forward to complement Rooney and Saha, all resolved for them if these reports are true.

As for us, we're still a work in progress.

I would see Tevez's a scholes replacement and Rooney backup
