I just dont see how this could possibly work - Rooney and Tevez are far too similiar, neither are out and out goalscorers and they both do their best work outside of the box.
The mancs are crying out for a striker in the mould of Torres or perhaps even Defoe/Owen.
If he does go there i can see them becoming quite unbalanced and it may backfire and **** up what is a very good side.
I would be more concerned if they signed a goalscoring striker.

Someone like Torres would have been perfect for them.

I share a lot of your feelings about the Rooney - Tevez partnership. However if you look at the way the most advanced forward has worked for United of late their main role has been to move around the opposition defence and make room for those behind them.

Both Rooney and Tevez have great movement and body strength. I can see them alternating between the two positions. It is however possible that like Fergies initial experiments with Rooney as part of a front three it will go horribly wrong.

One thing of note though was how much better Rooney was at the end of last season playing left side but deeper of an attacking three than he used to be so he may be learning. It is equally worth noting though that as a team they were much less effective playing that formation - i.e. without wingers.

Frankly, im not sure that Scholes is replaceable in that side, regardless of who they sign.

Ok AFII, let´s say they field this team. Couldn´t a team with a good right winger do some damage there, even with two only decent wingers you could stretch that midfield somewhat. Still, pretty strong considering, they would have Nani, Giggs, Scholes and Saha on the bench not to mention Darren Fletcher and Alan Smith!
