      he was long before dumped from the french national side because he was a troublemaker. he was "dumped" from the scum side very soon afterwards in the sense that he retried - quite young - because everyone could see his game had gone way off the ball and he was ordinary.
      Well said. He was a very good player but to compare him to Zidane is risible.

          it really hit home to me how good Zidane was when i watched him playing at Real with all the galacticos. (when they actually where good) and Zidane stood out thats how good he was

          As is said Cantona was a good prem player but in terms of world football he comes very low on the radar. Best was far far better. (to young to know but those who remember say he was THAT good in general) now best and some other great players didnt play in world cups becasue the nations they represent where not good enough ie northern ireland. Cantona didnt play as France had many better players.
