Agree. He didn't do it for France either. Class but not World Class.

zidane had very moderate athleticism and the 2 played the same role and had the same strengths: technique and awareness

zidane came out light years ahead, maintaining a world class level for over a decade and proving himself in europe and international level

cantona was a very good premiership player who performed at a world class level for about 6 months of his career. he moved to the scum when the scum already had the best team in the country and was credited with them winning the league: in fact, schmeichel was their key player, closely followed by keane. his best half season coincided with media darlings manchester uniteds new crop of youngsters coming through and winning their 1st title. he gratefully took the exaggerated plaudits.

he was long before dumped from the french national side because he was a troublemaker. he was "dumped" from the scum side very soon afterwards in the sense that he retried - quite young - because everyone could see his game had gone way off the ball and he was ordinary.
Well said. He was a very good player but to compare him to Zidane is risible.

Amazingly (or maybe not) fredo has made most of the top ten most stupid comments in the history of the Internet.

Someone ought to give him a prize.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

it really hit home to me how good Zidane was when i watched him playing at Real with all the galacticos. (when they actually where good) and Zidane stood out thats how good he was

As is said Cantona was a good prem player but in terms of world football he comes very low on the radar. Best was far far better. (to young to know but those who remember say he was THAT good in general) now best and some other great players didnt play in world cups becasue the nations they represent where not good enough ie northern ireland. Cantona didnt play as France had many better players.

If I were to assert "grass is blue", you could call that an opinion too.
It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

                That's bending it too far.

I never said that Cantona was 'technically' superior.

Cantona's brain was sharper than Zidane, that was my point. As for technical ability, there wasn't much between the two.

I could show you some youtube clips, but **** it, I won't do it ... What's the point. There was a marginal difference. Could Zizou do the kung fu kick ?

Don't let the fact that he was a manc, cloud your judgment. He was a great player. Ask any manure fan and they'd tell you he was probably the greatest for them. That's quite a statement.
I think you'll find many would consider the likes of Best, Law, Charlton, Keane, Giggs, Robson etc above Cantona when it comes to being their greatest ever player.

                          Q. Why is fredo like Fabio Capello?

                          A. They're both w*n*ers with a capital 'W'.

Yeah but I respect Fabio Capello as a manager and as a man

                              Amen to that.
Remember, we're only adding to the nonsense.

Walking a lonely road one night, Nasruddin saw riders approaching. His imagination ran riot: he saw himself robbed or killed, so he climbed a wall into a graveyard and hid. Puzzled at his behaviour, the riders, who were followers of the Mullah, followed. Finding him cowering behind a grave, they asked "Great Sage, why are you hiding here?". "It's more complicated than you think" he replied, "I'm here because of you - and you're here because of me"
