    Overseas Home League match!

I've just seen that in a few years Premier League teams may be asked to play one match a season in an overseas location.

Just wondered how people feel about this? Personally, being overseas myself I think its great - but season ticket holders may not agree!

Also, where is everone's preference if we did have to play overseas? I'd like to see us play a home match in SE Asia, although the way things are going it might well be Dubai!!!

It's a mental idea. The league is the English league and should be played there only*

    * unless Liverpool want to play their home games at Hampden in which case I fully agree

I think that for clubs with a good overseas baking then it would make sense, although not an idea that I am particularly fond of. However when the game in question is Bolton vs Sunderland I don't really see what it will achieve.

Also the destination would be limited to one with commercial appeal i.e Asia. This would cause total chaos with team prep if it was mid season.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

i think it's a horrible horrible idea, one of the worst i have heard. liverpool's home is at anfield and nowhere else...

imagine how sunderland would feel about playing their home game against liverpool in asia, where 90% of the fans would be liverpool supporters, clubs count on their home games for points and that might be taken away from them for a commercial purpose, it's a very bad idea imo...

think its a very good idea and could help the club increase its fanbase.

The NFL game at Wembley was a success and this could be a good chance to show the states about the wonderful game of soccer!

              Some of the benefits:

If there were 2 rounds of Premier League matches overseas (i.e. one home game for each team), then that would free up thousands of supporters to go to lower league matches! Therefore more money in English football.

There would also be extra marketing opportunities from engaging foreign markets.

Possible extra match day revenue if games were played in bigger stadiums and average prices were higher.

No thanks. Terrible idea. If overseas fans want to watch us in the premiership they have two options. 1. Hop on a plane to England. 2. Watch it on the tele.

Let them play the Charity Shield overseas.

                      Dont agree with league matches

                        Complete bollocks idea. Hate it.

Can't see any real benefit whatsoever. If there is any benefits then they're greatly outnumbered by the by the, erm, nonbenefits

Funny - when Liverpool met Porthmouth in Hong Kong (may be a little different in that place though), there were almost even numbers of Porthmouth-supporter present as the numbers of LFC-supporters. I can be that even smaller teams like Sunderland or Reading have their own fanbase around in Asia. I do fully understand though, that it would smash any preparations for the match itself - and the next match. The only real option would then be like switcing - Anfield to Nou Camp for one match ...

its a stupid idea unless we play somewhere in nw germany which is highly unlikely.. probably be in asia or america. the game is what it is now, theres no turning back to every saturday at 3pm. we will have to deal with the situation better and still win at 1pm on sunday or monday night at 7.45 in hong kong
