Cup Report: Holker 0 AFC Liverpool 4

AFC Liverpool eased into the second round of the Vodkat League Cup with a convincing 4-0 away victory over Holker Old Boys.

Holker began well with a good opening ten minutes, but it didn’t take too long for AFC Liverpool to take command of the game.

The Reds’ pressure culminated in a fine opening goal from left winger Andy McCoy who drove a great strike into the net from distance with his right foot.

Minutes later, striker Dave Eaton made it two, and was unlucky not to secure a brace when he headed just over the crossbar.

In the second half, it was centre back Mark Bloxam who extended AFC Liverpool’s lead from a well worked corner.

The game was put out of Holker’s reach with a fine conversion by winger Ian Sheridan to make it 4-0.

It could have been even more but for fine defending from Holker, including a great goal line clearance.

A fantastic Reds move led to a great chance for substitute James Croxton who steered the ball first time agonisingly wide of the keeper’s far post.

AFC Liverpool completed a great day out by visiting the nearby statue of former Liverpool captain Emlyn Hughes.

The next round sees AFC Liverpool take on Premier league high fliers New Mills away from home.

        Attendance: 153

Sorry to hear Alun has departed. Don't know what went on - but he put an enormous amount of effort into making this thing happen.

Where did you hear about that?
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

                That's absolutely disgusting.

All Alun's tried to do is offer a cheap grassroots alternative to people and all he gets is abuse

Some people need to wind their necks in.
