I'd certainly like to think not, but the pic on RAWK looks incriminating. Not sure if it's been photoshopped though.Originally posted by Joey Jones View PostYou don't honestly think that he was smirking after seeing the state Eduardo was in? Birmingham boss McLeish defends Taylor
tribalfooball.com - February 23, 2008
Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish immediately jumped to the defence of Martin Taylor after his tackle left Eduardo da Silva with a badly broken leg.
Taylor was shown a red card in the opening moments of the 2-2 draw at St Andrews after he caught the Arsenal striker, who apparently suffered a badly broken leg.
He said: "Any of you who know Martin Taylor through the years will know he is not a dirty player. It was just a case of Eduardo being too quick for him.
"His foot wasn't that high. It is on Eduardo's ankle for he was too quick for him.
"We are devastated for Eduardo and Martin is distraught - not about the sending-off but the injury to the player.
"I didn't think it was a sending-off challenge. I think he mistimed it and perhaps on another occasion you might say to Martin 'stand up and don't dive in'.
"But you see millions of tackles in the Premier League which look horrendous if you slow them down."
McLeish was delighted to pick up another point against the Gunners, and said: "I felt we could get something from the game and the players showed great spirit and commitment all over the pitch.
"We were very confident going in to half-time. The two goals they scored in the second half left us with an uphill battle but we threw caution to the wind in the last 10 minutes and got our reward."Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I haven't seen that picture. Like I said, from the footage that I've seen Taylor looked shocked. And I'm sure he's distraught about Eduardo's injury.Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostI'd certainly like to think not, but the pic on RAWK looks incriminating. I just hope he makes a full and quick recovery

He didn't look like he was smirking on MOTD. Just looked shocked. It's amazing how photographs can make something look like something it's not.Originally posted by Joey Jones View PostYou don't honestly think that he was smirking after seeing the state Eduardo was in? Looked ****ing horrible anyway, I hate anything like that. Poor fella.

Well, seeing him on the vid, he looks apologetic. But the still (and I agree they can tend to make things look worse) shows him smirking on his way up as he looks at Eduardo lying in a heap on the ground. If that's the case, I wonder if it was one of those "make your mark early in the game" type challenges. If it was, then he was extremely reckless and deserves to have the book thrown at him.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostHe didn't look like he was smirking on MOTD. Just looked shocked. taylor was genuinely upset and sickened by the injury to eduardo. i dont for a second beleive any player purposely tries to injure another. i do beleive that taylor was just trying to show eduardo he was in for a rough time in the game by putting in a hefty (but fair) tackle early in the game (i play football myself and have done in the past the same thing). he was probably proud of his tackle UNTILL he saw eduardo was hurt and then shock set in.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

What a shame, poor *******.
This happened to my brother when he was 16, he's never been able to able play again since it happened, totally shattered his ankle.
I hope he can still play.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

most managers tell you to hit em hard and hit em early to let them know they're in a game, so i agree that taylor was trying to send him a message early
but proud of his 'fair' tackle eh, ****in hell mate. as a player you know immediately when you've done someone. he knew it immediately

Liverpool fans (don't know what was said on RAWK) should be so sympathetic of what happened to this lad. Poor lad is what 24 and to think this maybe the end of his career. We've been thru it with Baros, Cisse, and Riise's shot that hit Alan Smith. It makes you sick to your stomach when someone gets hurt like that. A good clean tackle that hurts someone for a bit and makes them think twice about a tackle later in a game but **** me that looked nasty and malicious."What in the wide, wide world of sports is a-goin' on around here?" - Taggart AKA Slim Pickens in Blazing Saddles

i agree. it wasnt a malicious tackle by taylor, but it still could be carrer threatening for eduardo, which is a massive shame as he looked like he was going to be some player for arsenal this season.Originally posted by Radar View PostLiverpool fans (don't know what was said on RAWK) should be so sympathetic of what happened to this lad.
